savage m12 lrp

Re: savage m12 lrp

No.
It comes in an HS precision stock with an aluminum bedding block.

What is does need is to be torqued correctly if you remove the stock.

Skim bedding MIGHT help accuracy or consistency, but shoot it first.

I have had several HS stocks, the rifles all shot extremely well with no bedding.

Re: savage m12 lrp

I just noticed on my HS Precision M24 style stock that the rear of the tang was contacting the stock. That might be one thing you want to check. From what I understand the tang should be free floating. I'm thinking I need to either take off some material or bed it.

Isn't bedding the action separate from the aluminum bedding block?

Re: savage m12 lrp

No, the action sits in the v block of the aluminum bedding block, hence the name bedding block.

Will bedding the action to the aluminum block hurt accuracy?

No.
Is it required?
No.
Can it improve accuracy?
Most likely.
Will it ruin resale value of the stock, in case the op decides to upgrade?
Absolutely.
