savage mk II mags wont load on a closed bolt?

I have a savage MK II btvs a couple days ago for my birthday, and picked up some extra 10 rnd mags today at gander mountain. When I loaded them up and tried to load into the gun with the bolt closed they wont catch on the release. With the bolt open they fit and function just fine. My factory five rounder doesnt do that so I just wanted to see if anybody else has this problem.

Try only putting nine rounds in it and see if it will work.

I think my problem might be the follower on the new mags. When I compared them side by side with the factory mag it looks like it sits up further out of the magazine. Maybe that is the problem. Im fixing to head out to shoot and I will try nine rounds and see if that does anything to help.

Call Savage and complain ..... I did sent my mag I was having problems back (5 rd'er) and I got a package back in the mail about 6 days later that had 4 of them in it They hooked me up w 3 extra mags!!!! Worth a try LOL Love my BTVS and Savage always makes good when something dosnt work

I might do that, nothing wrong with getting a few free mags !!!!!
