savage mk2 paintng questions?

I have a savage Mk2 in a boyds tacticool. I have painted the stock Krylon Tan. I am wanting to paint the barreled action, or just the barrel but can pick a color. Do you have any suggestions on a color? Your info is much appreciated!!! KEJONES!......I started the thread show some pics of your rimfire sticks, and cant even get mine done to put on there.CRAZY!!

I would do the barreled action the same color as the stock personally. For me, where i live, and the terrain I would hunt in with a .22 I would either go with desert camo (which can be as simple as flat tan or as extreme as you like) or maybe even something more "green" for the forest that I inhabit for a small portion of the year. I see you live in TN, so I would suggest something more green because the time I was at TN it was nothing but green plants everywhere. Here in the desert where I live and primarily hunt a desert camo is more appropriate. It all has to do with the surroundings that the gun will be used in.

However, you have already painted the stock tan. So to me, the rest should be tan as well. Although if you have changed your mind, Krylon is easy to remove and replace or just paint over if you really want.

Ever consider having the metal painted in DuraCoat or similar?

Here is mine recently painted with Krylon.

I started with a base coat of tan on everything. Then dabbed on some green followed by brown, little bit of black then a final light coating of tan again to give it more depth.

Only thing I didn't pain was some key info on the scope and of course the internal workings.

By all means, paint the entire rifle. A black action/scope will definitely stick out against a tan/camo stock. Good thing about Krylon is that it's not overly difficult to remove.

When you're done cover it with the Krylon Matte Clear Coat finish. It'll make it last longer.
