savage model 10 question

Pre-accutrigger, model 10 with the word "tactic" on the bolt.
Looks like a 24" bull barrel in a cheap plastic stock.

Does this sound like a 10fp or a 10 fple?

What is the rifling in these barrels? 1:10"?

I was leaning towards a 700 sps tactical aac for a suppressor host, but I think I can pick up the above savage for $300 and I will if the barrel is rifled 1:10 and use the extra cash to upgrade the stock.

that is the old 10fp... it actually said "tactical"... was the original savage police rifle... 10 twist, what is the screw spacing on the 2 screws in front of the trigger?

I'm not sure of the screw spacing, but a guy at work has the gun and is looking to sell it. I know the spacing relates to center/stagger feed, should one or the other be avoided?

I think the pre-accutrigger models are stagger feed (4.2ish spacing)

seems like centerfeed still has a little catching up to do in the aftermarket stock area but all quality makers inlet for centerfeed too.

If it is a pre-accutrigger rifle, it will be the 4.25" spacing, and staggered feed. They still are really good rifles. Change the stock, change the trigger, and you are good to go!!

Only other difference is the pre-accutrigger model takes a different scope base (readily available), because the rear of the receiver is milled flat across the top. When the accutrigger models came out, they stopped milling the top of the receiver flat. No idea why.

That's a fine rifle there.

It's stamped model 10 on the barrel. The seller said it's factory original. Here is a picture of the same model gun for sale on gunbroker. The second picture shows that it says "tactic".

Yep short action staggerfeed 1-10twist and a hell of a rifle really. Well worth the $300 and as stated above if you don't want it and the guy will ship then I'm in! All honesty that gun, with just a stock upgrade will shoot moa or better I'd say. The 3 screw trigger can actually be adjusted to be a pretty decent trigger all in all. A replacement wouldn't hurt though.

I ended up buying the Savage with a harris bipod, a cheap BSA scope, a nylon sling, and 253 rounds of cheap .308 ammo ranging from silver/brown bear, to S&B, to ultramax remanufactured, to remington corelokts, and a hard case. All of that for only $300!!

After having the rifle for two days and before making it to the range I decided that I didn't care for the position/style of the safety or the way the bolt felt in the receiver. I've never owned a savage before, mostly remignton 700's and one model 70 and decided I wanted another 700. I sold the savage (force multiplier was right, it was worth more than $300) and the scope and used the money to pick up a remington 700 sps tactical aac-sd off of the classifieds.

</div></div> are you saying with the aftermarket stock centerfeed is possible with this? I'm wondering becauae I'm picking my 20in barrel version up friday and I've been looking at the choate stock sand would like to have center feed

On the side of that barrel is the seriel number. Enter it in the SavageArms PartsFinder/GunFinder page on SavageArms and it will tell you exactly what gun that is. Anything the site doesn't know I have no doubt you can call them and they'll ask you for the seriel number. From that they can track down your exact gun and everything about it.

From there you can come back and ask guys more knowledgeable than myself to tell you what you're dealing with. That's where I'd start man. Best of luck.

I just bought a 10FM Sierra, to build off of... I am quite impressed with the 3-screw trigger. Every other rifle has a Timney, but I don't think I'm going to be in any hurry to change this one out. Breaks like a glass rod...

Be careful with this I put my model 10's serial number in and it comes back as a model 11 in a completely different caliber. I did call them though and when I gave them the number the got it right and I was able to order my parts fast and easy.
