SBR + Brake good or bad idea?

Re: SBR + Brake good or bad idea?

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to fire a SBR .223 with a ported barrel. It was the loudest rifle I have ever shot. the concussion was pretty harsh. Similar to standing to the side of my buddies 7mm Mag. I will say that it was unique enough to shoot it 3 or 4 times but that got real old real quick.

Re: SBR + Brake good or bad idea?

It'll be loud as hell with any muzzle brake and the concusion will be less than pleasant too. I shot a 10.5" upper with a Mickulek brake on it last year...UNPLEASANT is an understatement. I don't think that your extra 2" of barrel will help much, if at all.

If you have a Surefire can you are planning on mounting on your SBR, skip the brake and go with the surefire FH556 flash hider instead.

I would definitely not go with the SureFire brake on that gun for almost all applications. It is loud and abusive. The flash hider is a much better option.
