I am looking at the sico saker asr 556k and dead air sand man k. What do youguys recommend. The keymo looks to be the superior mounting system.

Looking to build a 10.5 or 12.5 pistol ar so want something small and durable.

I am open to other suggestions as well but these 2 look to be what i am thinking.

Both the SiCo and Dead Air have no barrel length restrictions. Honestly, I think you'd be good to go with either. I have an AAC 556-SD for my SBR and a Nomad-30 for my .300 BLK. Both are sadly in jail still.

I have both of those cans with the KeyMo mount. They are awesome. I would take the Sandman K ove the Saker. I use them on both my 12.5 and 10.5 ARs.

One thing though, get the 5.56 Flash Hider end cap for the Sandman. It makes a huge difference and the performance is better.

The KeyMo mount is the best I have used. No questions about that.

Thanks. Just the kind of info i was looking for.

How comfortable is it to shoot without earpro for a shot or 2 in a hunting situation?

I would suggest taking a look at the rugged line of suppressors as well, specifically the Micro suppressor. Roughly the same size as the Sandman K in short configuration but has the ability to go longer for more suppression. Also has a great mounting system for repeatability.

While it’s better than having no suppressor a K sized can is not going to be overly comfortable to shoot without ear pro, especially on an SBR. I run a rugged surge in short configuration on my 14.5 for coyotes and it’s definitely better than no suppressor but the port noise is still pretty loud on ar’s.

Between your two choices I would go with the Sandman K for the mounting system it comes with.

Well thanks for making things a little harder. Lol

Not sure the versatility is worth the price premium to me. I really dont se myself using it in the long configuration. But the razor 762 fits the bill nicely

I would almost always wear earpro with this setup. The sound is more out of curiosity

Anything over 300 BLK you need ear pro with the Sandman K. In general the micro cans are not meant to even get close to hearing safe, just take the edge off in enclosed spaces and limit flash.

I love my Sandman K because of the lack of limits on barrels and the mounting system is amazing. I'd STRONGLY recommend the KeyMo mount for any can you get.

Unless you absolutely need the rifle/suppressor combo to be as short as possible I think the razor would be a good compromise between length/suppression. A little bit shorter and a little bit lighter than a Sandman S which would also be a good option.

Have you had the chance to get behind any suppressors yet?

YHM Turbo K.
research the performance, basically performs as well as many non k (short) cans and crazy value.
you can also use keymo with it if you’re set on that.

I’d go Turbo K. Fits with the SBR theme. Nothing is going to be quiet so go light and short.

I'm not sure if you've ever shot suppressed sbr, but it's not something you wanna shoot without ears for long periods of time. I use to shoot full length ar's without ear pro in an open field and on the drive home my ears would sting. I knew I was killing the ear if I didnt put something over them.

My suggestion would be to stay away from 556 cans. On ARs, a 30 cal can will sound the same and blow less gas through the charging handle. I'd go with a short and long 30 cal can like an nomad L and a dead air sandman K. Gives versatility and you can move it around all the guns.

The K suppressors are loooud. Highly recommend just getting an S or similar. For SBRs and shit like that for blasting with I’ve almost finished moving to everything to dedicated attachment non-serviceable cans. I don’t like having to worry about something loosening up on me beyond an end cap.

I ended up spending the small amount more for that versatility. Don't forget it is a lifetime purchase, and you are nearly getting 2 for 1.

The short config is very small and takes the edge off of the shot but the long config on the micro 30 brings it to the same size as the razor and is quite nice on a .308.

I have not shot the dead air or rugged but i do own the Saker 556k.. it exclusively lives on a 12.5” 556. I have 1500-1700 rounds down it now and i have been really pleased. No full auto with it but i have been to a class with it where we ran about 600 rounds in 2 hours.. not super hard on the can but it was HOT and stayed hot for several hours of the class. For a $550 suppressor it really performs.

I am going to have a Sig Sauer MPX barrel cut down- its .9mm.
I have no idea yet what make or model can to buy- QUESTION
whats a good barrel length for this SBR- I was thinking 10.5"
end mount, one person said 8.5" will work better because the
gas will get into the can faster??
Thanks

So a local dealer has a yhm turbo and resonator in stock. Both are not the updated models with the changable mount system.

Gonna check them out tomorrow after work, but i really think i have my heart set on the new resonator k for $426. Unfortunately his distributor is out of stock so i will have to wait. Not sure if i go with the turbo for 375 or be patient and get more flexibility with the resonator. What do you guys think?

I have heard great things about the turbo but for your first can I would personally go with the resonator as it will be a lot more versatile. If you don’t ever plan to use it for anything other than .223 then the turbo would work great.

Not my first can. I have an ultra 7 for my precision stuff. This will probably live on the short barrel ar i am working on but i like the thought of being usable for multiple purposes
