I just got my 2nd Schmidt. The question I have is the wind turrets are different. The direction to go to the right is opposite. This seems wierd. Does anybody heard of this before? Here is a picture of the two.

Re: Schmidt and Bender turrets??

The one on the right has CCW knobs, the one on the left has CW knobs

The windage knobs and the elevation knobs are different between a CW and a CCW

S & B can convert your adjustments to CCW. I had a 5-25X PMII CW converted to CCW last year but it took 5 months. This includes December, when S & B was closed for the entire month. Email S & B USA to inquire, or call Mark Cromwell at S & B.

Last year when I spoke to Mark he said that S & B USA was getting a bunch of the equipment needed to service scopes here, instead of having to ship everything to Germany. Maybe they can do turret conversions stateside now. S & B USA contact info below:

Slow down there, bud! I wasn't stating that S & B is currently servicing scopes stateside - I only said that when I spoke to Mark C. last year that S & B USA was getting the (technical) equipment necessary to service scopes here (in the States). Maybe they are but I haven't had occasion to call S & B since I had my scope converted to CCW last year.

BTW, my scope had to be sent to Germany, which is one reason why it took 4 months. I apologize for any confusion or for being unclear about that.

Re: Schmidt and Bender turrets??

I just got the phone with them. He told me if I needed a scope in the mean time. They would send me a loaner until this one would get back. He also said the US repair center should be up and running by the end of the year. I think I will wait until then. They was really good to deal with and a great company from my experience. Good Idea to call them. Thanks

This is good news - it looks like Q1 2010 might actually be a hard launch date for U.S. S & B servicing. That would be great!

Re: Schmidt and Bender turrets??

I just emailed S&B, and to have the windage & elelvation turrets changed to CCW, it will set you back <span style="font-size: 17pt">$500 </span>.....Holy Crap!

Maybe when they open the U.S. Facility up it will be cheaper, but as of now, I'd run the shit like it is.....

$500.00? You gotta be shittin' me. If that price is accurate it must come with an industrial size container of KY Jelly.

Damn, I hope so. I can't imagine anyone shelling-out $500.00 for a CCW conversion <span style="font-style: italic">on top of the S & B premium</span> when you can find Premier Heritage 5-25Xs' with the Gen 2 XR for about $1,000.00 less than a S & B PMII 5-25X DT LP CM CCW with Gen 2 XR.

No shit.... That's what they quoted for a change out. I just about spilled my coffee on the keyboard.

Re: Schmidt and Bender turrets??

Not saying its OK, but you are completely redesigning the insides of the scope. Threads need to change as well as the turrets. Add in the cost of labor (maybe 70 bucks per hour) and you could over the course of 3 hours have a pretty penny. I don't even know if they can do it in that kind of time.
If you think about it...

The thing is, S & B wouldn't be <span style="font-style: italic">"redesigning the insides of the scope"</span>. They would just be swapping-out the CW turret and dial assemblies for CCW turret and dial assemblies, which are existing off-the-shelf parts. As I stated above, I had S & B convert my CW scope to CCW last year. I sent my scope to S & B in September 08', and received it in February 09'.

Hell, Premier used to do the CW-to-CCW turret conversion of the S & Bs' for $175.00 before the big blow-out between the two companies. And IIRC it is not time-intensive. I would have had Premier do the CCW conversion, but I think they had stopped working on the S & Bs' by the time I decided to do the conversion.

Re: Schmidt and Bender turrets??

I got an email from Stefan Kern out of there Germany service department. He said they would do the part for free and push my service to the top the list. Or I could wait until US center was open. He read about this on the Hide. I always think that S&B comes through in my experience.

Bro, that's great... I would prolly wait to have it done in the U.S. Facility. I have been hearing more stories of S&B CS improvements..

Just to be clear . . . a direct e-mail to S&B results in a $500 quote, but posting the same question on <span style="font-style: italic">The Hide</span> results in the work being done free of charge?

Did I get that right?
