I have had the opposite experience. I love the MTC turrets. They make it easy to find my come ups quickly and easily.
As for the locking turrets, you must get them. It is MUCH easier to zero the scope with the LT instead of the older style, which require a lot more steps and there has been confusion in the past. Search for threads on this and you will see there are a lot more questions regarding zero stop and zeroing with the older non-LT turrets.
Meanwhile, the locking turrets also do not move. A friend of mine had a non-LT model and going in and out of his Eberlestock pack, caused a shift in his windage. He never dials wind and so when he started missing shots during our practice, he was surprised later to find that the windage turret had moved without his knowledge. When I lock my turrets, I KNOW they do not move, period.
Hope this information helps. Glad to hear about another soon to be happy customer of Schmidt and Bender. I have seen quite a few people switch from other scopes manufacturers to S&B. You will be happy with your purchase for sure.
