Higher BC, retains more down range mojo.

Been shooting them for a while now in my 6BR, 6Dasher, 6XC, 7-300wsm and .260RP. They are slightly seating depth sensitive so start your load development at a soft jam. Mine work best anywhere from just touching to +.020 in.

I use a case that has a neck ID .002" under bullet diameter, .222" in your case. Apply imperial die sizing wax or some other sizing lube to the bearing surface of the bullet just ahead of the boat tail and just get it started in the case with your seater. Put the dummy in the rifle and close the bolt on it. This will seat the bullet to match your throat. Depending on neck tension, this will have you approx .010" to .015" in the lands. When I do this, if the land marks are heavy or the bullet slightly hangs in the throat I'll use the seat die and seat the bullet an additional .005" at a time until it stops hanging but just leaves slight land marks on the bullet. You'll only have this problem making the dummy if the neck tension is greater than .002".

This is how we determine the starting point for our seating depth on all our rifles, BR, Hunting or Tactical.
