Rifle Scopes Scope base and rings question

First post!

I've wanted to get into long range shooting for a while now. Just recently I graduated college and got my first "real job" so to reward myself I bought a rifle (also, it was my birthday.)

I purchased a Remington 700 SPS in 7mm Remington Mag and I've pretty much set my heart on a SWFA SS 16X42 Tactical Riflescope unless ya'll can convince me of something better around the same price point. $300-450

So my question is, what scope base would be a good match for this rifle and scope without going overboard on the price. I'm willing to spend about $75 on a scope base to give a ball park figure. Next question: What sort of rings would work best with this setup? From reading on here it seems that I'll be happy with rings that have a lower rise, but what manufacturer would be a good fit? The price point on the rings is also around the $75 dollar mark.

I plan to eventually upgrade the stock, barrel and bottom metal as my budget allows with the final upgrades being a $1k+ scope and mounts (but that is a long time down the road.) So I need something to get me going until then.

yes, from personal experience, they will be VERY helpful if you want Seekins rings....

(not so much if you want something else)

You might want to try EGW base

Both can be found at SWFA. I have several of each and they have never failed me and they will fit neatly into your budget.

The EGW or Talley rails are around the same price and about the same quality. As for rings, some that I never see mentioned but that I have had great results with on two rifles are the GG&G aluminum sniper grade rings, you can get them from SWFA for $98.

You dont need to spend a lot of money, I mounted these on a 7RUM back in March, very solid mount set-up.
