EGW one piece scope base... I am thinking of purchasing one for my 700 build, gonna use it for long range/precision shooting with an ultimate long term goal of being able to hit 1000 yds on occasion when going to my local range. New to rifle building. Should I get 15 or 20 moa? Also, does anyone have any experiences with EGW? Any feedback would be appreciated, I really tried to use the search forum feature to get my answer but am new to the site, didn't turn up too much...

Re: Scope base...

I have an EGW on one of my 700's. It holds well, I like it fine. I also have Badger.

To be honest, I really don't note a difference, but then again, I don't switch them around. Once mounted it stays. So shooting becomes subject to it's own variables in it's own rifle.

Re: Scope base...

Sorry I didn't answer your question. I use 20MOA's on mine. Mainly because I often use them up to 500 yards and I want to be able to shoot further (800 to 1000) once in a while.

Re: Scope base...

Have an EGW , Badger, and this last time went with a Weaver 20 MOA base can't really tell much of a difference in any of them. They all work well once on never had them work loose the best thing was the Weaver was only $40.00 bucks not $140.00 like some of the others.

Re: Scope base...

Okay, about to pick up a EGW one piece mount (20moa), but I need to spend $.05 more to get free shipping, dare I move on to rings? Any thoughts on Burris Xtreme Tactical rings? What height would be right for those if they are worth the money ($27)

Re: Scope base...

i do check the how tie things are from time to time. I don't seem to need to tie them any more, but i still check, just good protocol - me thinks. LOL.
