Have an Anny 1710 22lr , 1990 vintage . Currently sports a Zeiss Diatal C 10X36T AO FCH of same vintage . When I shoulder the gun , I find myself hunting for the recticle . Between old eyes ( 70+ ) & diabetes might be time for something with a bolder recticle . Old scope is still clear , bright & has excellent contrast . Keeping with its role as a pest eliminator / small game getter I'm thinking a variable or lower power fixed . Want something as bright & clear as the Zeiss with a recticle I can see w/o obstructing my quarry . Would even consider an illuminated model if only a small dot / aiming point( no Xmas tree on fire ) . SFP , ¼ moa , min 40mm objective , under100yds , mostly low light hardwood bottoms . So far have been looking at a few :
- Meopta Optik 5 2-10X42 Rimfire PA # 1032565 currently on sale .
- Meopta Optika 5 3-15x44 # 1032571 same price .
- Meopta Optika 6 2.5-15x44 , Illum 4c rect # 653629 good bit more in price .
- Meopta Optika 5 4.5-20x50 , Illum Plex / dot # 1032583 , splits the price twixt first 2 & #3 .
- Tract Toric upper end of self-impossed limit , IIRC have go 4-12 to get AO , supposedly LOW assm'y w/ Schott ED glass .
Most everything else has been either Philipine , Korean or Chinese . Would prefer to stick with Japanese / Euro upper quality . Am truly wondering if it's possible to find something optically equal to the Zeiss under 1000 . The Meopta & Tract both have some less than stellar reviews .
Any ideas ?Thoughts ?
