Scope mounts with built in level?

The problem with built in levels is they are hard to see when you are behind the rifle. I have a couple of Spuhr mounts as well those mounted in chassis and all of those have a scope mounted levels due to this. My personal preference is the Accuracy 1st level.

Agreed. With proper cheek weld you have to leave position to see it. I do like the leveling wedge for set up. Makes it easy.

I run flatline ops levels on mine even though I also use SPUHR mounts. I use levels more for setting up the rifle and bipod as I usually lock mine over actually using them while shooting and the small level on the mount is too small for my older eyes.

1. the level in the mount is not for shooting

2. Never use a rail-mounted level you have to align it with the scope reticle, you want a tube mounted so it can be adjusted.

And people wonder why I say those currently using a level have no clue, they are just playing telephone, just like wonderama.

Thanks for the info. I will look for a tube mounted level.

What is the rail mounted level for?

I have a level on the M-Brace mount I’m using. Just threw the scope on and leveled everything together since it was a quick job the day before a match. I still have to set up a plumb Bob so I can re level the reticle to the fall of gravity when the rifle is shouldered at my natural point. I’ve honestly never looked at it during a comp, too close and out of focus and too busy worrying about other stuff. I guess it’s good on a square range.

I am kinda fond of the 'built into the upper' one on my old Mega Arms lr308.
I will admit tho....it *can* get in the way.
It will retract into it's self and with about 1/8th turn stay in or pop out as needed.
Too bad they don't make them anymore.

In limited cases, sure..

You'd have to provide context to your shooting for me to say if you need one...

but for 90% of the shooting out there, no, levels are not needed, levels are a fairly new thing in the big picture.
Great info, Thanks again. Most of my shooting is non match, prone out in the middle of nowhere, ringing steel.
