Scope Question 50 BMG

    I picked up a Barrett and need to stick some glass on it. I will be shooting it suppressed.

    My question:

    Regardless of brand etc, I can't decide if I should go 5-25 or 7-35 on power. I've shot lots of rounds suppressed in other large calibers 1000+ yards, in most cases after a couple rounds the mirage makes using anything past 20x difficult.

    I want the 7-35, but in my heart feel that the 5-25 is the correct answer. Looking for information to nudge me one way or another.

    Mk5 5-25 was my choice.
     
    Shoot the scope with the best warranty chances on a BMG 50 you will need it.

    This is the 4th 50BMG I’ve owned through the years and haven’t found them to be hard on scopes. My first 50 was a “cheap” single shot from a company called VM Hytech that was abusive to shoot. I had a cheapo Tasco 10-40x on it for 150+ rounds, no issues at all.
