Rifle Scopes Scope Ring Question

I ordered an SWFA SS HD 5-20x50 the other day (yay!) and need some new scope rings.

The fixed power Weaver scope on my pre-64 Winchester Model 70 is about 60 years old and is maybe a 4x32, so the current rings won't work.

I plan on using this scope/ring combo on rifles up to .300 Win Mag, which rings should I go for?

Another vote for Seekins rings, light, strong, great lines and no snag mounting design. I went away from steel rings for the (be it minor) weight savings and they are more than strong enough, that goes for scope bases as well.

.300 win mag needs a one-piece mount, in my opinion. Mounts that use a base, mostly Picatinny these days, with two separate ring mounts generally aren't as stiff as a one-piece. Usually you don't need to bed a one-piece mount as well. With a heavy scope you should also get a mount that uses 4 screws per ring, torque them to the manufacturers specs and check them often. Lastly, I use blue loctite between the mount and action but not on the screws. You can use blue loctite on the base screws but it generally isn't recommended on the ring screws. You can if you have a problem, just have to use heat to release them.

I've found the .300 win mag to be very hard on scopes, rings, mounts, shoulders, ears, etc.

I like Nightforce UL's. If I need lower rings, than Seekins is the answer.

I like the ARC's better than the Seekins. Badger are steel. Who wants heavy steel rings anymore.

I can't seem to find any of those brands locally, the best I've found are these Leupold rings. How are those, at least for the .243?

Also does anyone know what height I should go for? The old Weaver scope with nearly-flat rings nearly touches the barrel, and its probably a 30mm if not smaller.

Those Leupold High rings seem like they'd be the right height to fit the scope, yeah?

Mark 4's are heavy. Personally, I don't see the need for the excess weight.

Order the Seekins. They are local for you. Right up the road a few hours

Seriously, some advice. Don't only buy things you can find local. It will really cut down on quality gear you can buy. If I did that I would probably have a Simmons scope in some Leupold hunting rings.
