I am looking to mount a new S&B Klassik 3-12x42 on my Patriot Arms 30-06 hunting rifle & I am worried it won't work, here's why:
*I have a Near Mfg 10 MOA base mounted on my 30-06
*S&B Klassik only has 14.7" of elevation travel in the scope (very short travel for a scope!!)
*Looking to zero rifle at 1.5" high at 100 yds (approximately a 200 yd zero)
I am worried that I am going to run out of travel to get the zero I want. I'd love to stay as close to mechanical center on the scope as I can, but using the 10 MOA base, I know I am going to eat some of the elevation travel up!!
I know that it should not hurt the scope if I am near the end of elevation adjustment, as long as I am near the mechanical center of the windage adjustment. (I should be because the scope previously mounted (S&B Zenith 1.5-6x42) only used about 3 clicks of windage adjustment from mechanical center to zero the rifle).
Any thoughts??
