Any reason not to do this at 25 yards?
Background - probably just pilot error, the nut behind the trigger, but I was shooting my TRG42 last week and at 900 yards 5.9 mils up was right on, but dialed up to 10 to hit a target around 1250, and the rounds were impacting way off to the left. I put 4 in the same patch of dirt about 8-10 feet left before I decided to quit wasting ammo. Didn't try anything more distant that day. Wind was absolutely calm and they felt like good shots until I saw them miss. Elevation was fine ... just left. I don't think the scope is canted, and I wouldn't expect cant to make it go from perfect at 900 to wide miss at 1250.
Anyway, I want to prove to myself that my scope is tracking correctly. At 100 yards going from 0 - 20 mils requires a really tall target, and my range has no stands or marks at 50 yards, but there is a nice 25y sight in range where I can shoot at that exact known distance. Seems to me 25 yards should be fine, and allow me to get 0-20 mils of elevation on a 2' piece of cardboard. Anything else I should be considering?
