I can understand the frustration of new members asking questions that have already been discussed. BUT what I'm noticing is just because someone is asking how an IOR stacks up to a NF scope, the replies "dead horse" and some will even link a thread that has the same title. Just curious how this helps when they were asking about completely different models. Just because the thread is titled the same, doesn't mean they were asking the same question...does that make sense? ALSO, I know everyone needs to do some research and most of the time can find the answers they are looking for. However, sometimes those answers are a year or two old. Would that still be relevant? Heck, a lot of times I'll do a google search and start reading reviews of something only to see the thread was started over two years ago! What if there's a newer model or changes have been made to make it better or it was made worse.

I don't expect this to really change anything. I guess more than anything I would hope that if someone was going to post a link to a thread, it would actually answer the question the OP was asking in the first place. To reply with a thread that was comparing two completely different models just because they were from the same manufacturer has me more than puzzled as to what they are trying to prove....that's about as nice as I can put it.

Re: Scope vs. Scope....

I will always do what I can to help anyone out. Everyone starts somewhere, and if I can get good information to them to begin with... the less chance they have of getting slammed or screwed.

Re: Scope vs. Scope....

I've not been here that long, but what I did do was take the time to research and read the information that I could find, and then when I had a question I asked a specific question not a general "which is better" type question.

Most people are going to learn far more by reading some of the huge volume of information that has already been written than they will from the few answered they are going to get on one thread.

Re: Scope vs. Scope....

yeeeeep... even if i see a question thats been asked a million times ill try to answer it again for the new comer if im capable. i treat each thread like a face to face conversation. and i dont think id just throw them a link written on paper and walk away in person so why do it here.

Re: Scope vs. Scope....

I agree with what the OP wrote 100%. Some people just don't know how to use the sight and need time to figure it out or be pointed in the right direction. Some of the "veterans" that have been here a while have seen the same stuff over and over and know it so well they have forgotten it because it's second nature. I'd be nice if some the the asses, new and old, would not type a single word if it's not helping the thread.

shitty threads=shitty posts/shitty posts=shitty thread

Re: Scope vs. Scope....

Unfortunately guys thats just how it is.

Eventually people hit a point where their knowledge plateus out, and once you reach this point and your intake of new subject matter declines, you then start to get frustrated seeing the same things over and over.

IMO the smart guys are the ones behind Liberty Optics, CS Tactical, SWFA, Eurooptic etc that frequent these boards. They see potential customers and offer their assistance. In return there is a good chance that assistance has gained trust, and in turn a new customer which keeps business floating.

So IF YOU REALLY WANT HELP ask the guys who want your business. They will be keen to help.

true but there are people that want to help just because they want to help. i dont have to gain something to lend my help to some one.

Re: Scope vs. Scope....

Well said guys. I don't and never have claimed to know it all. However, if I can offer some of my limited knowledge to someone else, even if to just offer my personal opinion and/or experience, I'm happy to do so in typed form every time. We hang out here due to a mutual interest and we can all learn. We should be able to do it in a civil and helpful manner.

Should people search first.....? Yeah, maybe they should, or maybe they did and didn't quite find the info they were searching for.

At the end of the day there are alot of helpful folks around here who are willing to take the time and politely type, and maybe retype the same ole answers to the same ole questions. To those folks I say thankyou. On the other hand, just like many other forums out there, there are always a few who feel the need to run their cock washer's to make themselves feel better. If we were all as smart as them, we wouldn't need to be here, would we?

Re: Scope vs. Scope....

It all depends on the attitudes involved, both mine and the person positing the question.......

Willing to help where I can but also frustrated when things are repeated day after day.

If the newbie has tried and still needs direction its much different than a first post that reads like "I want to buy whatever will make me more sniper-y even though it will never be used as a practical precison rifle should, just photo ops to impress the other mall ninjas".

Re: Scope vs. Scope....

Sure, not everyone in the world is a sniper... or plays in the NBA, NFL, is a Rap/Rock star, Doctor or whatever else. Some people are too lazy to look around, just want answers asap or come around here with Hollywood aspirations of shooting a mile and a half with the right gun.

Everybody starts somewhere and without "FNG's" this site and others like it would... be pretty fuckin boring. Now, some people are just way too retarded and are just asking for it and all due hazing is great to read. For the most part, don't keep a "stupid" thread alive just to rag on a guy for the same question as 2 minutes ago. Just let the damn thread die and go on about your business. Or have a mod erase the thread, that's what they're here for... no??

Re: Scope vs. Scope....

Personally I'll always try to help a newby. You can't always tell how old people are from their questions or where they grew up. Lots of people are curious and have no experience. Part of the reason is selfish. The more of us there are the stronger we all are in protecting our rights.

No, that's not what they are here for. Do you deal with shit in your community by asking "tell the government, isn't that what its here for?"

Coincidence that the folks always whining about the way shit is are always new folks? I think not.

Grow some thicker skin, and post your bitching in the "site" section.
</div></div> </div></div>

Coincidence it's certain guys who have thousands of posts that always have sand in their vagina when some new guy doesn't know as much as a seasoned vet.

Coincidence those same vets forget that at some point that they knew shit about shooting but are now on their high horse not to be bothered by the common folk.

Coincidence a vet of SH with thousands of posts is here bitching about people bitching... amazing.

I'm not the one who started the thread, slick.

Re: Scope vs. Scope....

Cut the shit Jammer and Sobr.

OP, keep the non technical posts to the sections of the Hide that are meant for it.
