Guys,

I've been researching and shopping for a new scope for the rifle I'm having built. I've wanted to keep the cost low but I've just came to the decision to get what I believe will be the scope I'll use for the lifetime of my rifle rather than spend money on a scope I'll want to replace in a couple of months or so. So far the scopes that I've narrowed it down to are March 3-24X56 and Vortex Razor Gen II 4.5-27X56.

It appears that there is only one dealer who sells March Scopes but as for Vortex there are quite a few and they all price them the same so what is the difference maker in who you choose to purchase from? I'm relatively familiar with SWFA and they are located not far from where I live but....when you buy a top of the line scope who do you choose to buy from and why?

Dealers, if you read this what sets you apart?

I have bought Vortex from Cameraland, they are site sponsors, but I bought from them years ago, way before I joined here. I bought binoculars as gifts a couple Vortex scopes and I highly recommend them. There is also a few others, look at the site sponsors here and get what you want. I got stuff from SWFA too and I have no issues with them. Find what you want and buy it. Several sites will have sometimes somewhat similar models - read the fine print.

I think you'll do way better by making phone calls. Work the angles and you'll get a better deal and cash talks. All the dealers listed above are GTG but the phone call separates them.

Everyone has their favorite "go-to" vendors. Anyone that is a site sponsor on Sniper's Hide are recommended. Call them, you can have a great conversation while placing your order, and also confirm actual stock so you you don't fall into a back order situation that could have been avoided.

My last order was with eurooptic, awesome deal on very hard to come by scopes. NF 2.5-10x24 Mil-R bitches!!!

I just had my first favorable experience with Jason at Euro Optic. I'm sure the others are great too, but I called him yesterday at 3:30 EST and got a shipping notice a couple hours later. The scope and rings will be to my house in less than 48hrs from order.

I would recommend the vendors/sponsors on this forum, as well as SWFA. You mentioned that you were close to SWFA, and it appears that you are in TX, so I'd buy from a source outside of TX so you aren't having to slap tax on top of the price of those premium scopes.

What he said.

Good choice on the Vortex Razor II. Seeing as they are so new you probably won't find much discounting off the basic $2499 price but its worth calling around to the vendors to ask.

To expound upon that... Most Dealers will all advertise the same because of MAP. When they do ship I would suggest putting a WTB ad up as the Vendors and members will probably point you in a direction with one in-stock when they hit the market.

Mike Cecil @ CS Tactical is always a good source and has plenty of stock on hand.

Been doing business with him for almost a decade now.

Mike CS Tactical I have bought all my optics from him since we met in 2008,
He is a shooter / competitor and can answer questions with first hand knowledge actually using them himself in competitions as well as customer feedback which is a big plus for me.

It's a cat and mouse game, for sure. Money rules, of course. I've gotten calls from a major manufacturer on holidays and weekends for a MAP violation because someone on here got their panties in a wad over our Hide specials...but when another (much larger) dealer blatantly posted a price $400 lower than MAP on their website on a scope that was sold on here on a "group buy" nothing was done, despite the fact I know for sure the same manufacturer was notified of the egregious violation.

To the OP, we were one of the very first Vortex dealers in the country. We immediately picked up on the value this line offered at the SHOT Show in Orlando FL many years ago. When you call/email us, you get "the boss" everytime, and on the rare occasion that the hired help answers the phone, I will call you back and make sure all your questions are answered if you are not satisfied with any service you get.

I'm a fussy SOB and if an optic truly makes me happy there is a 99% chance you will be happy too, regardless of price point or brand

I've seen some surprisingly good prices on Gunbroker from time to time, both new and used. Clearly, the big scope manufacturers do not seem to care if their biggest accounts do not always stick to their MAP polices.

Guys,

I purchased my two S&B's within past nine months. First from milehighshooting.com and second from eurooptic.com. I chose them from availability and reputation. Price on S&B's are all the same or pennies apart when looking at total price.

I have heard a lot of good things about Vortex scopes. Shot another guys rig with Vortex. Nice scope but only experience were a few shots that day. Also noticed a lot of hot rigs in here topped with Vortex Scopes. Only looked through a March scope at 1000 yards target. Clear glass as well.

My two cents...

Safe shooting

Brands will always selectively enforce MAP violations, or less obviously condone them by providing co-op dollars or aggressively subsidizing dealer OTC replacement/refund policies. All you can be is responsible and ethical in your dealings, which has been your reputation. By the way, I'm on your waiting list and pleased to be doing business with you.
