2015-2018 Borka Tools standard bits set, which comes with EFK, is a variety of 29 bits, which are often used for firearms fasteners. This bits set also includes PZ1 (PoziDrive#1) and PZ2 (PoziDrive#2) bits, which may see some good use in Europe, but somewhat limited use in the U.S.A.

At the end of 2018, I'll be ordering many thousands of bits sets for 2019-2022 sales, and can make one-time change.

At this time, Borka Tools bits set includes:

1 of T-10 torx
1 of T-15 torx
1 of PZ1 (PoziDrive #1)
1 of PZ2 (PoziDrive #2)

and 25 other bits sizes.

T-10 torx and T-15 torx are among the most used bits, and for this reason, are more likely to be misplaced or even damaged, if the user does not watch the tightening torque. So, I got this idea that it is more practical to have spare T-10 and T-15 bits than PZ1 and PZ2 bits ( which are good for somewhat limited use).

However, I would like to have a sort of confirmation of this idea by knowledgeable people from SH.

Questions:

1. Would you prefer to have 1 more of T-10 and 1 more of T-15 instead of PZ1 and PZ2?

2. Would you consider inclusion of 2 of T-10 and 2 of T-15 (as opposed to just one of each) as a sign that these bits may be of "inferior quality" (which, in reality, is certainly not true at all)

Your opinions are very much appreciated, as always...

Thank you,

Boris

Boris, I have one of your kits from a group buy. It is very nice having every bit I might ever need, but you are right that replacement bits for the smaller torx would be a much handier than some bit I will never use.

The kit gives me pleasure every time I use it. I'm especially glad you posted today because It reminded me that my brother borrowed it last week.

Driver bits are consumables. Even carefully used, they have a life. I would Just be happy with a system of very easy replacement of bits. Too many of these kits make it full on impossible to buy one replacement bit, or at least guilt you a lot.

The most used coming with spares is fine, but in a spares compartment below or something. Do not replace the complete-set count to get room for spares.

Boris,

My response to your questions

1. Yes
2. No

I would also like to know if you can provide a barrel wrench for the AI AT like you do now but only for the flat diameter of a PROOF barrel. It is different than the standard AI barrel.

Having put a little more thought into it I think the low hanging fruit for improving the Borka kit would be to include some kind of vinyl sheet that listed typical torque settings for ordinary gun smithing tasks.

I'm far more concerned about losing little bits than I am breaking them. I think the quality of your bits are very good, I haven't twisted one yet but I've twisted snap ons and matcos, just saying.

I don't see the need for the PZ1 or PZ2 personally but I'd rather have a spare T15 and T20 vs T10 as I use the T20 far more and I think most others will echo that too.

Very interesting suggestions, thank you very much!

As it looks right now, Pozi Drive bits are not in a high demand at all, and I will likely remove them from the future 2019 bits set in order to replace these bits with something that is used more often.

Please keep sharing your ideas, the more the better, as it will help to improve the product for the customers and make it more practical in general....

I’ve twisted two of the smaller Torx bits in my borca kit and replaced them with I think the Milwaukee hardened bits. I didn’t over torque them when I originally tightened them, I think they became loaded by the sequence in which I tried to loosen them.... but it can easily happen in other ways too. Also my kit is from like 7 years back or so and maybe the ones included then in the kit wet softer, I dunno. I would definitely include a couple spares.

I don't own a Borka set but after seeing you interact with the community for feedback I am very interested in owning a set. Put me first in line to buy the 2019 set when it becomes available. Even though I don't own a set I would say scrap the unused bits and either include spare torx (I always need more torx bits around here even with my 5 other complete sets) or find 2 other USEFUL pieces to include that might expand the kit further.

Nik,

Thank you.

At the moment, I do not plan to manufacture any other barrel wrenches, although, technically speaking, we can certainly do it. But as you can imagine, I have to make and then sell a certain quantity of such items to justify expenses associated with manufacturing. So, I have to see a lot more demand first...

However, if you can provide some more information about those flats on the barrel, like distance between flats, etc., I may be able to help by providing you with a specific advice or even link to a suitable tool. Please use [email protected] for further related communication.

Best to you,

Boris

Thank you very much for your suggestion.

However, at this time I do not plan to do it for pure "philosophical" reasons:

1. I believe that Borka Tools customers are knowledgeable individuals, and it is very likely that they already know about torque specs for their firearms, scopes rings and scope mounts. Of course, I'll always try to answer my customer's related questions to the best of my own knowledge and experience.

2. I believe that the only formally acceptable source of information, including torque specs for specific devices, is the actual manufacturer of specific devices.

I agree, scope ring caps are a good example of different specs depending on the manufacturer
