Has any one used the new Seekins bottom metal?Looks a lot like Surgeon for half the price I am looking at the Badger enhanced.

Any suggestions on who to get to inlet for the M5 bottom metal. Going in a McMillian A3 cut for BDL.

If it’s the Havak bottom metal I’m thinking of, I don’t think it’s a standard M5 inlet. Seekins describes it as “M5 plus.” They claim almost a 3” COAL so the mags may be proprietary as well. John over at 8541 tactical has a great video with them at shot show. McMillan would be a good choice for the inlet if you do a standard M5 but I’ve had really good luck with Red Hawk Rifles M5 inlet on a McMillan game scout.

The Seekins bottom metal with the button release is not the same dimensions as the standard M5 inlet. I just bought a seekins from brownells and it will not fit in my stock that has an M5 inlet. It is more square around the corners. I am returning it.

Also played around with it and the release button on mine looks like it can stay in a locked open position where the magazine will not sty in the magwell. Not sure why it has this feature. The button can be removed from the DBM without any tools simply by pushing it out easily with your finger. Not sure if this is a feature or mine was just defective. It would be a liability out in the field thats for sure.

I just went through this and it's a little confusing.

Seekins NEW M5 DBM is what they just released and will be out in March. It has the barricade extension. The photo below. This one HAS the same dims as an M5.

The original Seekins DBM with the round push button is NOT the same dimensions as an M5.

The DBM that comes with the Havak, at least as of last month, does not have a push button but a mag release inside the guard like the one above but no barricade extension, also is NOT the same dimensions as an M5.

If you need one now, there is APA, MPA, Badger, PTG, Wyatts (I think) all are M5

I had emailed Seekins about the precision and (what I called) the hunter DBM. See response below.

"The Havak DBM is slightly longer and it works with the carbon fiber Seekins Precision magazine. If you add a spacer this shortens it to take the regular AICS magazines. This DBM is not quite ready for individual sale and I don’t have an estimated date on when it will be ready. The other DBM is our AI tactical that is listed for order on the website. This one is shorter and features a flared magwell. It uses an m5 stock inlet and takes regular AICS magazines only.
I assume the WSM mag would be referring to the longer Havak magazines. These are just getting produced now and should be available soon. But I do not have an estimated date or price point on when they will be ready. The AI Tactical DBM is the only option available for individual sale at this time. We should be adding items later but I do not have an exact estimate at this time."

I'm hoping they offer the havak DBM going forward. Would like to use regular AICS mags with a 6.5 creedmoor barrel and be able to switch to lighter flush mags for a barrel in a WSM/hunting caliber.

They are offering the “havak” DBM for purchase that is both M5 and AICS mag comparable. It’s not out yet and they expect them next month. And they are much less expensive than Surgeon, badger, and the others. I have one on order for my Manners. Hopefully it will come in in early March rather than late as I would like to get the stock up and running

That is the one in the photo I posted above. It is confusing and they should just standardize across the board.

I was referring to the new model, I should have clarified, forgot they had the push button model Mesa tactical also looks really nice at the same price point. Mesa is the one sold by Greyboe. I have an A3 with a BDL inlet wanted to swap it out. Considering some options. Redhawk has the Greyboe A5 pattern and Mesa tactical bottom metal for the same price as Badger. Could sell my current stock to fund that deal

I have a Grayboe Renegade and love it. My buddy just got the Ridgeback and that is really nice too. The package deal that comes with the DBM is a pretty good deal.
