Rifle Scopes Seekins or TPS/ [b]Update Primary Arms[/b]

I am looking at either TPS tsr steel rings or Seekins precision. What do yall recommend? This is going on a 56 mm scope, should I be looking at a 6 screw model instead of these?

<span style="font-weight: bold">Just as an update, I ordered the rings from Primary arms at 2:30 Wednesday and they just arrived at my office. Primary Arms was the only one to have the rings in stock and only charged 3 bucks for shipping. Seekens 6/4 rings look awesome. Thanks to all who responded on there and to Seekins and Primary Arms, they are definitely GTG.</span>

I thought about them too but I have a two piece nightforce base and the 3 lugs wont work.

I wanted the 6/4 Seekins but .97" is as high as they go and that's not enough clearance.

I have a 5-25x56 S&B in TPS 34mm low rings and a 4-16x42 S&B in Seekins low rings and both work very well. I changed scopes in these rings and they did not mark up either scope. I did not lap either one. However, in my opinion, the Seekins rings are a more elegant design and have smoother contours and all edges are nicely rounded. Also, Seekins is very responsive to customers whereas TPS is impossible to get any response out of. If you go with TPS, get them from someone like Brownells or SWFA so if you do have an issue you can rely on them to take care of the issue. My own opinion is that I will buy from the mfr. that has a great product and great service rather than the one with a great product but lousy service.

I have one set of TPS and don't really like them. I do not have any Seekins rings but, as switchblade says, Glen is a damn good dude.

Good to know. I had considered getting a set of TPS and Im not saying Im scared to own them now just comments I keep hearing are pointing me to Seekins. Just bought a new piece of glass and I will probably be getting a set of Seekins to mount it in. Anybody wanna sell a set of 30mm seekins???

I actually pm'd heatseekins on here and he replied already. I will be going with his rings. Anybody know if there high .97 will work with my.32" nightforce base? Scope bell is 2.56". I've ran the numbers and it's saying that their not high enough. Not sure if I'm doing it right though

Whether it works will also depend on your barrel contour. Go to the Seekins Precision website and go to the scope ring calculator:

You put in your scope brand, objective size, barrel contour and scope tube size and it tells you which rings should work.

Alrigt guys, help me out here. Using the calculator on the top of this forum here is what I come up with. Anybody else run a 56mm scope with a nightforce 20 moa base and seekins rings? This shit is more confusing than building the damn rifle.

(.32 + .97) - (2.56 x .5) = .01 clearance

That simple equation doesn't account for the contour of the barrel because the barrel tapers so the part of the barrel that sits under the objective of the scope will have more clearance. The first part of the equation (.32+.97) is the height of the centerline of the ring above the ACTION. The second part of the equation is the distance from the centerline of the scope to the outside of the objective lens. But where the scope objective sits over the barrel a smaller diameter because of the barrel taper- that's why the barrel contour that you have on your rifle matters. Read a few posts down from the top of the ring height thread and Glen Seekins will give more of an explanation. Then go to the scope ring height calculator on the Seekins Precision website.

Friend reccommended Seekin to me and I really like them. The rings didn't have that stupid tacticool look to nut sticking out the side snagging on all kinds of shit.

Well made product. Will be using more of them in the furture when needed.

I have a 20 MOA base on my 308 and Seekins 1" height 34mm rings and a #7 contour barrel. The scope is a S&B 5-25x56. The base measures about .45" in the rear and .42" in the front. This is how much space I have on the front.

That's with the butler creek cap.

The other option is to get a total Seekins set up in a 20 MOA base and the .97 height rings. That will work for sure. Just sell the NF base. Also you won't need 6 screw rings. The Seekins 4 screw will hold the scope just fine.

I can't say enough good things about Seekins products and Glen as a business owner.

Ordered the Seekins 6/4 High(.97) from Primary arms at 2:30. Just recieved notice that the rings have shipped and will be here by Friday. Damn that was fast.

I have handful of TPS - inconsistent product quality !!

Must be lapped and 1 out 4 threads will need to be retapped

Going w seekin from now on after looking around here on the hide.
