Tried to use google search but didn't see anything on this.
My son 22, traded a used glock at the south florida fairgrounds gun show for a used savage rifle. About 8 months later I get a call at 6:am. He's an armed security guard getting off a night shift. His mother called him and said the FBI was at the house wanting to speak with him.
Apparently they found the glock laying on the chest of a dead guy in Nicaragua, Traced the serial number back to my son. Of course he had no paperwork even thou he should have. ( It was a dealer) Private trade I guess.
After questioning him on if he had ever been to Nicaragua, etc They told him not to worry and if they needed to get back with him they would. So far so good.
Of course He has never been there but was still freaked out & my Ex say's it's all my fault. I should have never gotten him into shooting etc etc.
Leads me to my question: What is the proper way.
How do you guy's who sell a rifle or handgun on the hide do it in a way so it's safe for both sides. Is there always paperwork involved?
I did read where some send it to a FFL. But does that mean you have to have the same back round check's & all just like if you were buying new from a store? Just curious because I am thinking of eventually putting a few up for sale on here and would like to know the procedure.
Thanks for any info on this.
