Freakin flyer. Grrr. Oh well.

I have to use my own target (with exact measurements) with a lighter shade because at the time of day when I shoot the targets are in the shade. Add that to the shaded part of the SH gong target and I can't see my hits.

Cold bore shot was 2.5" low. Took three shots before it returned to zero. Might have to try and track down some "match" ammo instead of the hollow point subs I'm currently using

Looks like some good scores there, Top Predator! It has been a while since I shot 200 yards with a .22. I'll have to do something about that!

thanks, i've shot better scores with the BV, i think i'm getting worse instead of better! the .22 mag wasn't that shabby, i know i can pull them in more with the rear bag.

i'm going through making a decision though - i should put it in the learnings thread but here goes:

1. i pieced together a mkii f model to use for silhouette competition for hunter class, and decided to go with hv blazers as the amount of practice and such eats up lots of ammo. plus it could double as a squirrel gun using cheap hv bulk hollowpoints at shorter ranges. now i'm thinking to get the consistancy i need / want i should go back to wolf match, but being as the ammo budget is low, i wouldn't be able to shoot as much. as i do all my less than deer sized game hunting with the .22mag, i should just take the squirrel gun thing out of the equation.

i'm also thinking of cutting the barrel back to 18" or 16".

2. for the mkii bv, i'm using the aguila rifle match, which is only about 30.00 a brick. it works well, but still the wolf works that much better, but twice the price. however i think i "hit the wall" with accuraccy on the bv with my present ammo, and produced better groups with the wolf. i was going to get a CZ 453 or 455 as they seem to handle less than perfect ammo better than the mkii, but again, between the rifle and optics and trinkets, that would be another $600 investment.

so i don't know what to do, perhaps i'll shoot what i got until empty and go back to wolf for both rifles and shoot less, but be satified by having more quality time with fewer rounds.

i just have to make a decision (again) so i can just set it and forget it.

I hear ya. It's been too long for me going without shooting past 100. I want to get back out to 300, and Manatee is only about an hour away. So very tempting. I've heard it can be windy there at times though.

Nice target TP. I am restoring a old John Deere "B" farm tractor & I worked on that most of the day, then took the brush hog & mowed my range. Got the equipment out of the pick up & found that I left my bi-pods at home. I was running out of time so there was no shooting for me today.

Yes I made a day of it at the Range with three scoped rifles.

I didn't plan on using the Marlin 925 with the 3-9x32 Tasco scope for the 100YB-35RDB Match, but I had it with me for the purpose of getting a 100 yard zero - so I just decided to use it for that match.

I was actually quite pleased with how it performed at 100 yards considering it's not a high dollar scope by any stretch of the imagination. Of course my Tasco 6-24x42 Target/Varmint Scopes aren't high dollar either, but they seem to work just fine.

All in all - it was nice to get back to slapping the metal. Range conditions were good for out here (80 degrees, 5-8 mph wind from the south, low humidity, and good light). It was an enjoyable outing.

Thanks Kansas45. I had a good day with good weather and light conditions, always a big help.

I wrestled with the idea last night of removing that 3-9x32 Tasco scope from the Marlin 925 and installing the 6-24x42 Tasco Target/Varmint Mil-dot scope that I have setting on my shelf on this rifle. I most likely will for no other reason then the handy finger adjustment of the turrets.

I wish I could find a 20 MOA scopebase for this 925, but all I've seen is a 5 MOA offered, and I don't feel that is really worth putting on since I can already reach 100 yards with the setup I have now. The 6-24x42 will only be a bonus with the mil-dots and larger optics.

You know, Joe. I like messin' round with different scopes on my .22's. I had a Barska Swat 10-40x50 Swat layin' on the bench & I put it on my Savage MKII FV for awhile. Seeing that little .22 bullet fly into the target is cool! I could pick it up about 40 yds out on the 100 yd IDPA steel target that I have set up. The 6-24x42 will be a great addition to your Marlin.

Kansas45, I did stick the 6-24x42 scope on the Marlin 925 yesterday and after zeroing for 100 yards I shot the SH 100 yard - 2.5" Round Disc from the bench. I really thought I would do better, but not so. Guess I have to get use to that scope on this 925...

Nice shooting and congrats to all who took part this month. It was nice getting back in the saddle in September. looking forward to the October matches my friends.

Also, I want to add a big thanks to Top Predator for getting all these results sorted out. He's the one that keeps us going from month to month with who did what. Thanks TP!
