Somewhere down in TX
I hope I've chosen the correct place to post this. I can build this thing out to about 750yds. I am looking for suggestions including what ranges you would set your berms at. It will see use with 22lr to 500NE and 223 to 338 Lapua. Excited to be able to do this from scratch. Thanks for your input guys.

Re: Setting up a range.....

Where in Texas are you? Do you have a limit on how many berms your gonna have? Are you limited also on the width that you have for the range? More details would be nice.

Me, I'd do paper/stands only at 50, 100, 150, & 200. I'd berm at 300 and then every 100yds after that of your limited on width. If not, I'd berm 300, 400, 500, 550, 600, 650, 700, 750. I'd stagger the berms so that all the "x50's were to the left and all the "x00's" to the right or vice versa.

I'd have some "Know your limitations" steel set up at 300/400 yards. Also, have atleast 2 targets per berm with one of them being a 1-2 MOA steel target. It's nice to have something smaller than a full size silhouette to aim at. Hitting a full size target at 500-700 yds isn't really a challenge to some folks. A 1 MOA circle/diamond at 750 can give you a challenge sometimes if you have wind to contend with.

These are just ideas.

Re: Setting up a range.....

Thanks for the response. This is somewhat west near Brackettville. Rimfire silhouette swingers are set to the right and doing almost exactly as you suggest but doing small berming at every hundred mark along the left side. Was going to set it up for paper at every hundred. I guess I need to learn more about plates.

I would really like to see anyone shoot a 22LR 750 yards and hit something.
