shell holders differences

I was wondering about shell holders thickness so checked my 223 shell holders using the Redding instant indicator .only 2 of them matched.

That sounds about right for Redding, switched to Area 419 a few years ago due to that reason. At the time my friend Jardine measured mine, several of his and a couple others and found that few of them were correct - even called Redding and got a shrug of shoulders type response.

The dimension we care about as a priority is the 0.125" height from the top of the shell holder to the surface where the base rests.

If you don't have a depth micrometer, you can still check with the tailstock of your calipers.

sure I can use the tailstock of my calipers, been there done that. here I am using Redding instant indicator that shows me the differences a bit more conveniently
