I have a barreled action (action and barrel only, no trigger or bolt) that I need to ship/mail to a gunsmith. I was considering packaging it in a 3" x 36" tube (with plastic caps on both ends) with bubble wrap. I was planning on shipping it via USPS. Do you think using a just a tube and bubble wrap is sufficient? My second option would be sending it in a rifle case. Any suggestions are welcome (PS, it is perfectly legal in my state to send a barreled action directly to a gunsmith). Thanks

That ought to do the trick. I'd look for small rubber/plastic caps to place over the trigger and/or bolt handle before wrapping it, so they don't poke through the bubble wrap. Do the muzzle of the barrel like that, too, and you should be in good shape.

Thanks for the input, I am not sending the trigger or bolt as the gunsmith does not need it. Both ends of the tube are covered with plastic caps.

Tape the shit out of the tang so its not sharp, pack each end of tube with newspaper and wrap barreled action with bubble wrap. Done a few that way with no issues.
