I mentioned in the shotgun section that my wife's uncle is giving me a shotgun, one of several he has inherited. I know it has to go through an FFL, but does he need to send it through one to mine? Or just send it to mine. And my next question, who is best to use for doing this? FedEx, UPS, USPS? Its going from Colorado to Nevada, I am taking care of the shipping. Any recommendations?

Re: Shipping a shotgun (or any firearm)

He can ship to your FFL if they will accept from an individual.
Yes, where he is out of state you need to transfer it and fill out the 4473

UPS or FedEx is fine

Re: Shipping a shotgun (or any firearm)

All carriers will ship your firearm UPS, Fed ex, USPS. Make SURE that it is unloaded and packaged extremely well. Since it is a shotty you might consider breaking it down and wrapping in bubble wrap (Easier to find a box, less easy to identify as a firearm in shipping).
If the weapon does not cross state lines I do not believe it needs to go to an FFL.
If it crosses state lines it must be received by your receiving ffl for your transfer.
Good luck and enjoy the new shotty.
