When you shoot off hard surface, will the bullet impact higher on the target?

I was missing high quite a bit in my last rimfire match. One of my squad mate suggested me to aim at the bottom of the plate or hold .1 mil less when I shoot off hard surface. Is it common practice?

Short answer: no, not really if performing proper fundamentals of Marksmanship. At least not enough to matter.

Also, what are you shooting that is small enough that .1 is all that’s needed to correct a miss to hit?

Thanks for the answer.

I was shooting 2-3 inches plates at 100 yards and my shots just went right over. Probably my zero was off.
