Shortest .300 BO Barrel?

Looking to start ordering the pieces/parts for my 2nd AR build. I want to build a small .300 BO with a folding stock. Going to be the new truck gun. So, with that said, what is the shortest .300 BO barrel out there? I know Odin Works has an 8" available, but is that the shortest? Also, any opinions on a good folding stock would be appreciated.

I have a 4.75 and it runs well. I use a can exclusively on it.

That's great news. I have a Trash Panda that's looking for a home since I sold my Honey Badger. Thank you for the recommendation.

Mine has an Aero upper 8” barrel

I think it’s a nice split between shooting subs and gaining a bit more velocity with supers if I choose to use them.

I do however think the subs are a waste and not enough power to really get any job done. Fun on the range but that’s about it for me. It would make a heavy hitter for supers but I carry a 556 for that

Just imagine these 220gr subs inside of 100 yards striking an adversary.

The use of subsonic ammo isn't meant for long range.

I am leaning towards an 8' barrel. Now that I have found a folding pistol brace that I like, the weapon will be easily concealable even with an 8' barrel...

I have a 4.75" KAK barrel with 1/5 twist.
Or go this route and just leave my suppressor on it.. Keep it as a Sub Gun... Tough to find a rail that's big enough though that will go over a Trash Panda. Right now it's just a matter of me making up my mind. I do appreciate all the input though. (y)

For uber-compactness, try a folding stock adapter. On this one the hinge is built right into the lower.

I do not have one of these, but do have one of their regular lowers and it seems good quality.

300BLK in sub shoots a 220gn bullet at 1000fts. Same numbers as 45ACP. If I am going carry a rifle, even a short one, I want better than 45 ballistics

Twist rate plays an important factor in ballistics as well. A 7" .300 BLK barrel with a 1:5 twist rate shooting subs has much greater terminal ballistics than a .45 with a 1:10 twist. Additionally, the faster twist rate helps stabilize those heavier subs.

OP if you're looking for a short .300 BLK barrel, I would look at Shooting surplus as they have a Q 7" .300 BLK barrel assembly in stock. Comes with gas block and tube, as well as tapered shoulder to use with a cherry bomb and your trash panda.
Sold Out. I waited to long...

Try shooting at an animal at 125 yards with a 45 ACP of your choice then do the same with a LeHigh 194ME. Then come back to tell us it's the same thing.
I have no reason to shoot animals with a 45. I have shot several with a 44 mag hard cast and they died just fine. Regardless, I am not the one who said that it is the same as a 45, I just said they have shitty terminal ballistics and being a rifle cartridge doesn't change that. I do imagine that strange bullets like that lehigh would expand a lot, but that doesn't have anything to do with being a rifle bullet, it has to do with being a weird bullet. I mean, I carry 45 Ranger Ts, and they expand, according to tests, to a full inch in gelatin, while ball stays at .45. But that is because it is a well engineered bullet, not because it is coming out of a pistol or rifle.

Can you group less than 1.5” in the 100-150 yards distance with a 45ACP or even a 44 mag ? Now try it at 200 yards. I have no problems shooting less than 3” groups at 200yards with my subsonic 308 DTA. The Hornady Sub-X has also been incredibly accurate.
My point is that a 30 cal hunting subsonic bullet is significantly more accurate and will still offer decent terminal ballistics with the right bullet and the right shot placement.
Have I logged on the wrong website? Are we really going to debate the ballistics of heavy subsonic rifle bullets vs a pistol round? Why do you think something like the 9x39mm exists ?

You are arguing with the wrong guy. I love 300 BO. Don't get me wrong. I do think that "standard" rifle bullets at subsonic speeds have poor terminal ballistics. A also agree that the really good bullets are great, but they aren't great for the same reason that rifle bullets do. There is no hydrostatic shock. On the other hand, some of the supersonic rounds offer a nice combination of speed and good expansion.

All that said, the gun I keep in my bedroom is literally loaded with Hornady Sub-X rounds, so I love the things. I just don't agree that simply because it is coming out of a rifle, you override physics. Without bullets designed to expand, subsonic blackout sucks. My point was that the same could be said about 45 ball ammo, and especially 9mm ball ammo. So let me rephrase. Non specialized bullets moving subsonically have generally crappy terminal ballistics. Rifle, pistol, slingshot, whatever.

I agree that rifles are a lot easier to shoot small groups with. Please stop putting words in my mouth. :)
