Anyone have any experience with the Browning maxus or the Beretta 400 xplor. I am looking to get a new 12 guage semi auto for mostly phesant hunting maybe other uses but not much. I was hoping someone here could give me an opinion from experience with using either one. Thanks.

Hunted in KS a couple weeks ago with a guy who had the A400, He didnt really say much about it when I was around, but I never saw him have any trouble with it. I held it and really liked the way it looked and felt, but I didnt shoot it.

I've been shooting a SX3 for about a week now. Its really light and easy to swing around. Barrels for it are pricey. I found out that the SX3 is essentially the same shotgun as the browning gold/silver, FN SLP, etc. The Maxus Hunter looks REAL NICE. If I saw that one before the SX3 I think that would have been my choice. It has a magazine cut-off, only thing really different from the SX3.

Another vote for Benelli. I shoot an Ultra Light 12 ga - perfect for pheasant. Not only does it look and shoot spectacular, it will cycle shells that a Browning Silver I used wouldn't. Also a much cleaner gun, considering all the gas goes out the muzzle.

Thanks for all the info and opinions. I went and got the browning today and couldn't be happier. Had it out for about 30 minutes after I got it cleaned from the factory oil and field ready and had my limit of 3 phesants in that time frame. For the weight it had very low recoil, I had no problems with it (not that I would expect to have with about 6 shells ran through it). It is light fast and the trigger was effortless. I am pretty sure with the 28 inch barrel I could carry it all day and not be bothered by it. I got the walnut version with the matte stainless action and blue barrel and it is a beauty. I look forward to getting more use out of it for the rest of season, its a good thing there are lots of birds this year.
