Show me you target stands/holders

Looking at building a couple of portable and maybe permanent target holders. Looking for ideas so i can do them right the first time. What has everyone else made or bought to hold paper targets? I tried the goolge search with not so good results. Thanks in advance.

here is our target set at 1 mile...the brackets were purchased from LVSTEEL who is a hide sponsor.

I use two of the 4" green "garden" fence posts (the kind that look like smaller versions of green steel STOP sign posts). They are about $5.00 each. I pound one in the ground, then a small (2.5") spring clamp ($2.99 each) to attach one side of a 2'x4'x3/16" sheet of plywood ($7.99 each) to the post. Then repeat with the other post. I like this system because I have all my targets stapled to each board exactly the way I want them before ever arriving at the range, which makes target setup much quicker. I have used one set of 4 boards for over two years now and although they have many holes, they are still going strong.

I think we made 21 the last time we made them. I have only had 1 take serious damage. That occurred at 250 yards when folks had to shoot a 5 inch round steel from sitting.

Re-bar, a chop saw, torch and an open end wrench...

They are cheap to make, easy to set and easy to store...

This one has one of Big Dog Steel's 25% targets.

For paper targets I use old real estate signs. One of the local realtors gives them to me when they're bent or rusty. Just ziptie a piece of cardboard to the frame and you're good to go.

Light....free.....pointed feet so they're easy to set up. What more could you ask for?

For a portable stand my son makes and sells these, mostly to the local USPSA crowd. They lie flat and can be staked with a smaller landscaping spike. They are about USPSA target wide and two 1x2 slats are used for uprights.

I think they are $25 each plus shipping.
He is not a Hide vendor so sorry if I am stepping out of bounds.

Here's the paper target stands I built for the gun club I shoot at.I made 2 sizes, 18" and a combo 18 & 24" stand. I used 1/2 " rebar and 1-1/2" wide flat bar with a hole for staking it down. The length of the flat bar is 20" and 26" with the 1x2 pockets inboard 1" from the ends. I did this so the stands would nest for storage.The length of the rebar is 20 and 24". Easy to make and easy to fix when they get shot.

I don't have a photo of one that I can find but mine are made of Sch 40 PVC pipe, the pipe and all the fixens run about 8 bucks a stand. If a piece gets shot and it breaks just throw it away and cut a new one. 1 8' piece of pipe makes one stand and it holds 20" card board. If you would like the exact measurments just let me know and I will get one out and measure it for you.

I just use t-posts for the stand and conveyor belt to hang.

Very nice skyking. Love your site mate, wish I knew it was around (if it was) when I was looking for a tumbler... ended up going U/S because everyone elses prices are crazy.

I really like that set up! I have tried the t posts with wire and clothes pins and have issues with the wind. how does the plywood and just 2 clamps hold up in windy conditions?

Here are a couple pics of some stands I made for paper targets. Light weight, portable, and easy to make. If you don't glue all the parts together(some will have to be glued), they will break down to a pretty small size.

I like those a lot. Lightweight and portable. On a windy day you could use U-shaped rebar pieces to hold it in the ground.

I might have to build me a few of those! What did you do to the PVC end caps where the wood enters? Drill and cut?

Yep, drilled and cut them to fit with a jig saw. I sealed all the joints so that I could fill them with water or sand if need be. I have never had them blow over like they are. If the wind is blowing that hard, it moves the targets around quite a bit as is.

If I made some more, I would not glue all of it so I could take them apart.
