Rifle Scopes Side Focus & BDC Reticle not being made.

Vortex and Nikon both made scopes of the 3-12x42 variety with side focus (parallax) adjustment and with a BDC reticle. The BDC is my preference for hunting because I can't read the etching on a turret w/o glasses and can't shoot with them. Both Vortex and Nikon have apparently quit making scopes with side parallax adjustment and all the mfgs seem to be going to high end magnifications that are unsuitable for hunting. Anybody know what is going on here?

Well Nikon is out of the scope business. But plenty of pro staffs and buckmasters on ebay......

I really like the Burris fullfield E1 with the long range reticle the 14x max model., very clear.. 1" tube compact little scope.

So what's wrong with the dead hold BDC reticle that Vortex still offers ?
They also have side focus parallax on those models.

As far as I can tell, Vortex most certainly has side parallax turrets.

BDC reticles....no, does not appear so. Side parallax, absolutely

Didn't know Nikon was out of the scope business. As far as Vortex goes, yes, you folks are right. They still have side focus in the Viper PST line, all in the $900 and up price range. They also have the BDC reticle in the Diamondback, but no side focus. I have two Diamondback HPs, a 3-12 and a 4-16, both with side focus. These are no longer made. I have a Viper 4-12 with side focus that is no longer available. The only Viper on the website is a 6.5-20. For me the Viper and Diamondback HP lines offered good quality for a reasonable price and I could get both the BDC reticle and side focus. The Nikon Monarch 3 had side focus and BDC reticle in the same price range.

Check Ebay, someone dumped a metric ton of new old stock bushnell scopes......some have SF with DOA reticle.

Man that 1 power difference really makes or breaks the usefulness of the optic

I agree that the difference between a max magnification of 10 vs 12 is small, and I would seriously consider a 2.5-10 instead of a 3-12, but the 2.5-10 does not have the side focus. All the higher power Viper HS scopes do have side focus.

I hear you, the optics manufacturers try really hard to come out with optics for everyone and every purpose but everybody has thier own ideas of what optimal is.
It's a never ending cycle I think and wouldn't want to be on the design end trying to keep up or please the public.
