I'm fairly new to 1911's, and have tried searching for this and can't find a definitive answer.
When i slowly draw the slide back on my new SIG, with an empty magazine inserted, the slide will often catch on the takedown notch. Usually a slight bump will free the slide.
A couple of things I have noticed comparing this gun to my other 1911, a Kimber:
The slide is much easier to pull back on the SIG, lighter spring?
There is a more pronounced bump when the top of the magazine reaches the magazine release button when inserting
I have tried different magazines, including Wilson Combat and Ed Browns, they all do this.
Is this anything to worry about? Should I replace the spring with a heavier one?
Thanks in advance
