Sig cross in 300wsm

Was sitting around thinking about a project and was wandering if there would be any problems with converting a cross to 300wsm?

I suppose it’s just a matter of my smith being comfortable opening up the bolt face and the real challenge being the barrel.

Any advice?

Hey guys, just jumping in here. Thank you Ruger35 for the mention. Your regular Cross will not support the 300 WSM. It's not just the bolt face, it's the magazine as well of course I'm sure there are options out there. I do not know of anyone that would work on the bolt face, but as was said before there is not enough meat and the extractor would be a major hurdle. Dirty D posted the Magnum and that is an option, results vary though. Some people have purchased that rifle to run 6.5 PRC in it. keep in mind feeding cannot be guaranteed so you would need to find that sweet spot in the magazine or purchase the mag backer that keeps the round from going to far back. I have never heard of anyone running 300 WSM yet. We do a lot of work with the Sigs as far as full rifle options and pre-fit barrels.

Yeah i considered making my tikka a long action 300wsm this past year and there are some people that have figured out how to get the mags to work but i dont know if id want to drop an extra 1K on a magnum over a SA cross just to strip it down and dump money back into it. maybe if i build a 7prc i may revisit it.

Try necking up .277 Fury brass to .308, that should get you in the neighborhood of .300 wsm
