The SIG Kilo4k LRF. Not a word of conjecture about it anywhere on the internet that I can see.
Tempting features vs other models:
Optical image stabilization.
IPX7 (sometimes, but not always better than IPX4)
CR123 instead of CR2
1/4” tripod receiver instead of the clamp
I spoke to SIG customer service about this product because I had one burning question: The optics, and therefore the reticle are stabilized. Is the RF laser also stabilized? They confirmed it is not.
I can imagine this being somewhat of a fly in the ointment where the stabilization is showing your point of aim being relatively still but the range finding laser is still bouncing all around due to the reticle and the laser being inherently out of sync due to one being stabilized and the other not.
Anyone have one of these puppies care to weigh in? Spoke to a gentleman at cameraland, said he’s sold a few and not heard any horror stories, so if I don’t hear any strange tales here I’ll likely snap one up and report back. Sounds like a nice little unit with some much needed upgrades to the rest of their line on paper.
