So my wife and I were out running some carbine drills really for the first time with her rifle and the first 2 mags I believe ran fine. Then after that she started getting a failure to feed every other round. A simple slingshot of the charging handle put it into battery and the round would fire and then load and fire the next round but hang up again after that. The couple that chambered most the way all had a deep gouge in the bullet when she ejected them. I tried the mags in my ar and they worked 100% so I am ruling out mags. Bolt locks back on empty mag as well. With it being every other round am I out of line thinking it is a bad feed ramp on one side and if so why did it wait til after a couple mags to show up? Did the gun get dirty enough that it slowed down just enough to start being an issue?

Someone more knowledgeable will come along but I could see that, take a cotton swab and feel for burs. Might give the chamber a good cleaning as well but every other round I am not sure.
The only reason I mention this is I had an RRA a long time ago that would leave a good scratch on the bullet when feeding on the right feed ramp. I never had issues, but I noticed it when I unloaded it after hunting. Ran a cotton swab over it and it pulled some of the material on the ram. I hope this helps. Don't flame me too much.

What ammo are you running?
Also what mags are you using?
do you have a picture of a spent case?

on the failure to feed, was the round still left in the mag or was it pinched between the mag and chamber?

Ammo was LC mags are p- mags. Cases all looked normal, round would get stuck with the bullet deep in the feed ramps and case almost clear of mag. I am pretty confident it is a feed ramp issue. They never knocked the sharp corners off the ramps after they cut them and it appears that is what is digging into the bullet keeping it from chambering. I am going to take it apart and do some work on the feed ramps. Only one way to learn, and worst case I have to buy a better barrel when I mess it up.

Can you post a pic? If it’s just a bur on the extension there are some simple ways to knock it down without damaging or killing the warranty.

also is it a 20 or 30rd pmag?

I am honestly having a hard time picturing it and only stopping a couple rounds.

I don't have the rifle with me. Before I cleaned it there was a lot of tiny copper pieces all over in the barrel extension and the live rounds that were ejected all had a deep groove cut into the bullet definitely made on entry based on the way the copper was peeled back towards the case.

Those “tiny copper pieces” could very well be unburned/partially burned powder.

You realize that if you take it apart and try to fix it yourself and can’t and want to send it back Sig is going to tell you to fuck off because you voided the warranty, right? Just send it back and let them fix it. It’s no different than if your car under warranty was fucked up, would you put time and money into fixing it yourself or would you take it back to the dealer and let it be their problem?

The rounds go into the magazine with the pointy-end of the bullet facing the front.
Shows what you know...
