Re: Sig p220 Combat

Like I said in the PM......

Likes:
- Accurate
- Sexy looking pistol
- good trigger

Dislikes
- bore height way to high above my hand for me
- slide weight above my hand
- grip angle didn't really do it for me
- pointability for me was a problem
- grips were slick and needed texturing (most pistols need this)

Re: Sig p220 Combat

I have both the P220TB for suppressed shooting & a P220ST for other activities. I can find nothing wrong with either Model. I have never had any difficulties with either piece. The P220TB suppressed will not reliably function with soft target loads which is not the handguns fault. Decades ago when I first tried the P220's I was exactly thrilled. Now, hopefully older & wiser I am a huge P220 fan.

Re: Sig p220 Combat

I loved the night sights, the finish, and the accuracy.
I didn't like the high bore axis, the cheap plastic grips, and the 8 round mag.
I sold it to buy a HK 45C.

Re: Sig p220 Combat

I am is Sig owner, and I have had several 220's, including a 220 Combat. They are all deadly accurate, stone reliable, hold their value, and can be tuned. I have a 226 Blackwater that I sent to Grey Guns, and I will say that it has a double action that is comparable to the old S&W six guns. Will spoil you real quick. Get one and put a pile of ammo through it, and tell us what you think. JPG

Re: Sig p220 Combat

Love my TB version, just dont make sight adjustments with a gunsmith punch,it WILL break the glowing part of the front sight!

I have the high sights and that, along with the wider rail, make holsters few in the choice department.

So what you're saying is that you replaced it with a gun that still had 2 out of the 3 problems you cite.

Awesome job!

Re: Sig p220 Combat

Downzero, nice one smarta$$. Last time I looked ,the HK45C doesn't have cheap plastic grips. In my hands, the 45C appears to have a lower bore axis, but maybe I should check w/ you before I post. You can't go wrong w/ a 220 Combat. I wish I would have kept it, & installed a threaded barrel.

Bruce is the man... all my Sigs go to Gray Guns.

Re: Sig p220 Combat

A standard full-size P220 with night sights was the first pistol I ever owned. It was accurate and absolutely reliable with every load I put through it, including the cheap Wal-Mart stuff. It had more muzzle rise than my other 45 probably because of the higher bore axis. I ended up selling it to a friend for financial reasons but I miss it sometimes. I liked the heft of an alloy-framed pistol and it was a joy to shoot. I never had problems with the factory grips.
