Looking at getting a new carry pistol. Debating between SIG P365X and P365XL. Only difference is a tad over 1/2 longer barrel and slide on the XL vs the X. I’ve been told slightly more recoil on the X because of this. Anyone have experience with both they can share? 1/2 inch really make much of a difference in carrying?

I wouldn't touch the X for the reason being that they come with that Sig optic on it.

For me, definitely a hard pass. The barrel length is not at all the critical factor, especially when it comes to concealability. The height of the gun from the bottom of the grip to the top of the slide is the critical dimension.
Basically you gain absolutely nothing going with the X. First off as stated above you will have to go through the hassle of taking that shitty optic off and replacing it with something good, and you are giving up barrel length.
Unless there is a very specific reason why you need the shorter barrel I would not go that route.

Is this your first carry gun? If so, do you know how you plan to carry?
In my experience, IWB on side, barrel length makes little difference to me in carry situations that are not my pocket, but grip length and bulkiness can cause a weird bump on my side. I ended up going through several single stack 9s, to include a G43, and finally switched to the 365XL, and then shortly after got a second one and a 365 grip module so I have the longer grip and the shorter grip. The shorter grip has become my preferred choice, just for the fit under a shirt, for me - though both get regular use and practically I barely notice a difference.

No I have been carrying for many years. But honestly it has been a .380 in my front pocket. Just wanted to go to something with more punch. Shot my neighbors xl today and it’s a sweeeeeet little gun. He has the Holosun and I loved it. He added the little extension on his mag for his pinky to fit on.
of course I’ll buy more mags....I’ll get me a different one for each day of the week! LOL.
I've had a 365XL for 3 month now and its a great pistol but I have already burned through a battery on the optic in that time.

as far as concealment, ive found thickness is the most important factor....i can conceal a full size 1911 a lot easier than i can a Glock 19.

P-365 grip modules and slides ae available for reasonable prices. You can also get manual safety kits to add a manual safety. Sig is creative in that the serial number is a on the fire control group (in the middle of the pistol) so you can change the upper slide and bottom group with ease. Wright Leather Works LLC has a great line of holsters for the Sig P-365 etal. I use a pocket holster, IWB, and OWB at various times to carry my Sig P-365. SIG Parts (separate from the regular Sig.com site) carries a lot of accessories for the P-365. Also Osage Country Guns, and Scheels generally have a good stock of parts at less that MSRP). Osage had 10 & 12 round COY magazines in stock right after the P-365 COY was released.
....and for those that don't go straight to the morgue, I've never heard a bad guy / gal in the ER complain about the caliber with which they were shot.
Get the Holosun and be done with it. Mine has been great through two classes, a USPSA match, a couple IDPA matches and practice. I'm close to 1000rds on it without any issue. I Carry it 90% of the time in an AIWB setup, and its so easy to carry.
The XL is a sweet little carry gun. I put the Mag-guts +2 spring/follower/basepad on one of my mags. I have huge hands and that extra 1/4" really makes a difference in feel. Plus now my mags have 14rds. I plan on putting a few hundred rounds through the mag and see if I get any issues but i've heard great things from the magguts kit.
I have 1 or 2 I think, yes. I carried it as my spare mag in my AIWB holster for a while, but the way my holster is made, it keep the spare mag higher and the 15rd sharp edges cut into my ribs a lot when I bent over, so I switched back to the 12rd'er.
The thing I don't like about the 15rd is it doesn't really assist in your grip at all. It's skinnier than the basepad area. Again I have really large hands so having a mag basepad that is a true extension of the grip makes a big difference.
Obviously the mag-guts basepad (or Tactical Development one) is a very small change, and its not much shorter than the 15rd (1/2-3/4") but it feels better to me and conceals better for me. YMMV

Ya it does, but carries that nice Sig price tag lol, woofy.
I have not carried both, but I have shot all 3. In my opinion, the X shoots like the standard 365. The recoil to me was noticeably more snappy. The XL isn't exactly a Glock 19, but its the smallest gun I've ever shot that handles and shoots more like a full size than a sub compact.
After shooting my friends X, I'm glad I went with the XL(of course that was my only option at the time). If I wanted a smaller 365, I'd just carry my wife's standard 365, as it fits in most of my pants pockets with a Sticky holster.
You can essentially get either the P365 or the P365XL and turn them into just about any configuration you want with parts from the Sig store.

I prefer the standard length slide with the XL grip module.
Time for an upgrade from g43. Made up mind on the 365 xl. Undecided on the red dot sight. Someone said the Romeo was junk. Any one else got any more info? Like the idea of the 1 and done package deal though.
If you get a Sig p365 model without an optics cut slide- you can have it milled for the duty rated Trijicon RMR-cc.

Shield Sights is a British company making their sights in Britain. Their RMSc "Glass Edition" has upgraded electronics, coated glass lens, and aluminum housing.
Sig is a U.S. company "assembling in the USA" with foreign components. Their Romeo Zero Elite has a carbon fiber reinforced body as opposed to their Romeo Zero's polymer body.
Holoson is a chinese company called huanic and under the control of the CCP.

I’ve been experimenting with the Icarus Precision billet grip modules. In yesterdays mail was their 365XL grip with the Parker Mountain Machine comp. With the zev standard length slide the comp recesses even in the full length dust cover. The billet grip module adds about 4oz to the package. I’ve yet to shoot it but the “word” on the PMM comp is that it reduces snap etc. by 33%. We shall see. The Icarus has a full length pic rail which is nice but it is holster finicky as the rail is left squared off on the sides not chamfered like the factory/Wilson. There are about 8 holster makers that support Icarus. They are listed on Icarus’ site. I got an AIWB with claw from ANR.
The nice and bad thing about the Sig P365 (&P320) series is they are highly modular.
It’s nice because if you don’t like something, you can change it. If you get the XL grip module and decide it’s too big, you don’t need to buy a whole new gun, just a new grip module. If you decide the slide length isn’t what you wanted, swap it out, and sell the old slide…or build another gun.
And that’s where the bad part comes in, with all the modularity and trying out different parts, you are going to end up with 1 of each size…at least that’s what happened with me. At first I was going to just swap grips/slides sizes for what I wanted that day…then they released the FCUs and all those “swap” parts became guns….

Zev Edition 365XL for me. Tactical Dev basepads for all the mags (2x12, 2x15)

Also did the Hogue Handall rubbers on both the FDE & black grip mods.
I'm curious to know if my mags with TD basepads will fit a WC grip mod..
