Anyone notice that top end Sig Sauer scopes have "Assembled in Japan" not "Made in Japan". Big difference in the two.

Even a lot of the "Made in Japan" stuff includes a long list of subcontractors that usually are located in China. I would not put too much trust in the stamping.
Also afaik it is percentage of cost not parts, so all chinese parts + japanese labor should also result in "Made in Japan"
 
And exactly what proof is there that the primary country of origin for the non-Japaneee assembled parts is PRC? Given Sig's relationship with OEMs in the Philippines, I could easily believe that they have Philippines parts shipped to LOW for assembly. At the end of the day I'm not sure what the point of this thread is. The stated conclusion isn't based upon anything but conjecture and personal opinion as far as I can tell. And even if it's true, I'd have no issue buying a scope "assembled" by LOW from parts (regardless of origin) that have QC performed at LOW.
