Sighting in 38 lapua

Getting my savage LRH in 338 off layaway.. I have a leupold mark 4 tatical. 4.5-14-50 scope.

whats a good sight in distance.. Been told to bore sight at 25 yards to get on paper. take out to 200 and go about 4 inch high//

thoughts?? opinions??

This depends on you. Mine is about to get a 600 yard zero which is where I planned on zeroing it from the start. There really is no need to zero such a rifle at under 500 yards seeing as the rifles/cartridge was designed to do work well in excess of 1000 yards.

1/2 Mile, no kidding, I would fire it once at 25yd to make sure it is on paper in a way that it will still be on paper at 100 and then go from there.

I sometimes will grab a piece of posterboard paper to back it in the beginning at 100 so you guarantee you are on paper. Some of these canted bases can make it interesting getting on paper with out bore sighting.

At $5.00 a round, no point in wasting precious ammo.
