Suppressors SilencerCo .45 Hybrid

My local shop has a pretty good deal on one of these. I've put off buying a modern suppressor expecting the AHPA to pass... but since it looks like it's going to be a while, I thought I'd look at a unit. Been a long time since I bought a suppressor... things have changed a lot. Mounts and interchangeability in particular. Long time since the days of Werbell, Sionics and Mickey Finn.

So looking at one of these units to use on handgun(s) as well as AR platform. Probably not on my main precision rifle, a .308 Sako... at least not until my barrel is shot out and I replace with a new shorter barrel set up for a suppressor. That's another 6K rounds.... maybe AHPA will pass by then and I'd get a dedicated unit for .308.

But this .45 Hybrid looks like it will work for quite a variety of firearms. .45/.40/9mm. As well as .223 and 9mm Carbine.

Anyone have one? Happy with it? Current deal at gun shop is <$650 plus tax stamp and sales tax. Seems pretty hard to beat.

Cheers,

Sirhr

I think you probably already know this but the Hybrid is kind of a jack of trades master of none suppressor...sort of. I own one and it primarily sits on my pig smasher (458 SOCOM) and it is just about hearing safe. I have also shot it out of my 308 and 260 and they were pretty quiet as well.... especially the 260. I have also attached it to my mk23 and FNX Tactical. Cans on pistols are still kind of a novelty to me but I considered them both “hearing safe”. I put that in quotes because to me it seemed safe but technically probably wasn’t. It was a bit heavy on the pistols but very manageable and most importantly lots of fun. I still want to thread my 45-70..... a can on a lever gun?? Whoda thunkit? I also have other cans but have not compared them side by side and to be honest I don’t care... they are all good and infinitely better than nothing. All in all I like it and have no problems recommending it especially at the price you found. Mounts and screw on do dads add up though.. Enjoy!

I run mine on my 6.5x55, .375h&h , and 9mm pistol. Really like it. $650 is pretty much dealer wholesale , so great price. You should like it , but I will warn you all the mounts and acessories will add up$.

I have one that I run primarily on a .300 Win Mag, I pretty much never shoot the gun without it anymore. I also shoot it on my FNX and it is quite fun to have the impact louder than the gunshot. I have the ability to run it as a direct thread on my AR or muzzle break on my brothers. The versatility of it is what sold me on it in the first place as it's nice to be able to adapt it to whatever gun you need. I will admit that the different parts do tend to add up, I just wait until they have a sale on the website and at $650 you already have a $180 head start over me.

I would say go for it, you won't be disappointed.

I have a hybrid, Omega, and a 30CB9 the TBAC was my first can and is still my favorite. Truthfully i wish i would've gotten an Ultra 7 & 5 instead of the two SiCo cans but that is neither here nor there.

The can performs especially with end caps. Which you will truthfully need for 5.56 IMHO, with a 5.56 end cap it's right there with the omega, sounds really good. Where it noticeably gets louder is on magnums. Our 6.5 SAUM is certainly still reduced with it on but it's noticeably louder than the 30CB9.

My only concern is where SiCo is heading financially, a lot seem to think they're going out of business. So it makes me wonder who's going to repair my cans if someone doesn't buy them out. I've already had to send my Omega in, with less than 100rds down the the thing. Also i'd either go direct thread or Area 419. Wasn't wild about the ASR mount and it's increased length of the can.

I own one that really only rides on my 9mm SBR and for that I love it. I too liked the idea of versatility.

I have played with the idea of having my Marlin lever gun threaded just for fun.

You should look at the accessories you think you might want. They are not cheap at all. I think SiCo dumps these on the market and makes money off the accessories (would not be unique bussiness model). If you do ASR mount, + muzzle device + end cap your $650 suppressor will be $900 pretty fast.

Over all I am happy. But I am not necessarily a suppressor snob. I own 9 (maybe more, counting in my head) and I am not sure I could tell much difference between any of them.

Couple of my suppressors are .223 cal, rest except for the hybrid are .308 cal. The hybrid lets me play with 9mm, 45, 44mag. And pistols. I think it is a good tool to have in the tool box. Not sure how it would work in a precision rig just due to all the pieces. But could work fine, i just have others for that.

As a one-can-fits-all solution, it does nearly everything... it just doesn't do it as well as dedicated cans.

That said, I have run one on a .270 Win (and plan to run it on both a .458 SOCOM and a 45-70 in the future), and have been pretty happy with it. The guy shooting next to me said that it wasn't quite as quiet as an Omega, but it was close (to his ear).
