Theyre not discontinued, the reason they SiCo laid off so many workers was because they hired them for the pre-41F surge, and now that surge has rescinded but the Weapons Research was unaffected. Doubtful the company is going to go under anywhere in the foreseeable future (saw talks about that in another thread, having to deal with warranty issues with the Radius).
Other than that, Im not sure why Brownells is offering it at such a low price, no one else is anywhere near that price, I went through 20-30 pages of google search results trying to find an answer as to why.

My guess is they weren't selling many so they wrote them off on their taxes and dropped the price to clear inventory.
I still bought one cause I couldn't pass up the price, I missed my only chance last last year while crow hunting because of the delay between me ranging it and getting back behind the rifle. Having the rangefinder on my rifle would have let me get it.

If the shush act passes most cans will be 100-150 bucks across the counter.

Spoke to silencerco. According to them there are no plans to discontinue the radius. They are covered by a lifetime warranty.
Given how much I like them already, had to pick up another at that price. It's a no brainer for already heavy rifles.

Let me stop you right there. Will there be cheap $100-150 cans, but the cans on the market now? They'll cost the same. The money isn't just going into pockets, it's going to make the best suppressors in the world.
Back to the radius, they burned a lot of dealers when they dropped the price to less than wholesale. Just a really crappy thing for a company to do.
I have a hand hold ranger finder and not familiar with this one.

Wishful thinking at best. Do you see everyone that shoots driving $50-70K 4X4's or shooting custom guns with $4K scopes on them? No you do not. The bulk buy in cheap, for the shooting style they do. The days of over priced cans are coming to an end. Check an see what sells in places that have sane rules/law covering cans. If deregulated to across the counter (where they should have always been) every guy with a lathe with be making them for his buds or for sale. There are some designs that are so efficient an easy to make, the Db reduction between a 100 buck can and a $1K can can not be heard by the shooter. The ASA stepped on their own dick an now they are worried.
While it may be true that any skilled guy with a lathe can make a suppressor that works most won't be nearly to the quality of those on the market now. Titanium and stellite cost money and you surely aren't making a lightweight can without them so the cheap ones will be big and heavy which reduces their appeal.
By your logic If it was solely based on price then everyone would be running a Savage as there is very little overall accuracy difference between a tuned one and a Custom rig.
While I agree those prices will go down it is more due to an increase in manufacturing more than lower price competition. Quantity reduces the price so the more they move the cheaper they can do it.
Research the EU and what really sells over there and for how much.
High tech will always have a Gucci/tacticool fan club, but the average hunter/shooter could care less about droop, off set, or a 2-3 db diff when there is a 8-900 buck across the counter difference. The market will be guys who don't shoot a 50rd box of ammo a year. You think they are going to spend big on that? The only reason the can market took off is because of the net, and some events past the first gulf war. Then throw in the present regs and most buy once an cry once, but when they become disposable the worm will turn, and that is even before the rest of the world starts selling their wears here. You don't know cheap until you handle a Chinese can, but the bottom line they work quite well. Deregulated Cans will be like machine tools to the average guy with a set up in his shop. Yea A Kurt vice is king, but a chicom knockoff will get the same job done with just a little more set up time. Like lathes, small mills, an tooling for same, when the market finds out a 100 buck can will last the average shooter years upon years, you really think they care how or with what it's made of. Ask all the tool sellers that sell US an chicom built tools what their market is. Thinking a $1-2K can is going to be the staple when title II can regs go tits up, is a pipe dream. If quality drove markets you would be correct but bottom line trade offs do, an will until the end of time. It's a world market wither anyone wnats to admit that fact or not. I used the following for years an it applies more an more every day.

Yes the market will grow but towards the lower end once the real difference gets out. Step out an away from Tacticool/Gucci an pole LGS to see what they are selling across the board when it comes to high end. Ask what sells more, custom high end guns or Box stock Rem, Savage , or XXX. Just like the AR market that many think Trump killed, a flooded market corrects it's self. I can buy an used AR today for almost the same price I paid in 1969 an much cheaper than 1982 plus, let alone all the cheap mags an other trinkets that can be had for it. If you look at what happened after Sandy Hook, everything AR no matter the price was selling. When supply came back dealers were buying everything including very high end AR's Those same high end AR's are still hanging up for sale in most places. Will they sell one every once in a while sure but for every high end sold how many low end do they sell? The AR market will shake out those w/o vision. Take Anderson mfg look at where they were in the gun market when they got in, where are they today? What drove them to where they are today? Common sense, in a very over priced market.

They had it priced at $900. Asked the kid working if he knew the prices had been cut and were going for $400. He said no. I told him if they want to get rid of it I'll give them $350 now. Kid spoke to the manager they said sure.
Cutting their loses? Or was there a huge mark up over wholesale?

No luck at LGS with this, but I ordered one from brownells for $380 shipped with no tax.
I don't think I really need it because I dont have fast ranging requrement but who cares just cant pass it at the price.

Well one reason for the price drop could be that the Radius does not work well in bright light. I know because I have one.
I have no idea how many people know this, but I assume that the word is out, and that and this has negatively impacted demand for the product.
Where this unit performs very well is at night - you can see the IR laser ranging your target very clearly through a clip-on or PVS-14.
So, at $3-400 it is a steal, just don't expect it to work reliably in the sunshine.

I will grab one if they go down to $300 but at $400 it still isn't worth it to me and I am glad I sent mine back earlier this year.
Being a SiCo dealer, when they first released dealer cost was 850. Blowing out dead inventory it looks like.
What kind of results are you getting?
I have no problems getting 1000+ yards on trees and dry hills and such on a 12 o'clock bright and sunny day.
It's only meant to be good to around 1200 in daylight, farther on reflective targets and better conditions.
I tried it real fast this evening with my spotting scope and it went past 3k. Talked to some guys who have run them before buying and was told 1400 daytime isn't uncommon.
We'll see but honestly if it does 1200-1400 in daylight that's a steal at 400. Now I just need a spotter with an illuminated reticle!

Yah it's a no brainer to me. Just received another and am thinking about another.
at $1k I thought it was a great idea. At $600 I thought it was an incredible deal. At $399... wow.
yes it's a heavy chunk of metal to put on your rifle, but on a precision rifle i don't know that I notice the weight enough to matter.

My unit will not range >800y 2 MOA steel targets in bright sunshine. I don't care if it ranges bushes, trees, or hillsides. As I said in my earlier post, the strength of this unit is for use in the dark.

I just picked one up from Brownells for $360, at that price, I figure it's worth a try. Code: M7G.
It looks like they are discontinued which is what I wondered was happening since it says "No longer deliverable by the factory". I hope they will support them for many years to come.
