    I have a .243 win Remington 770 youth model. The bolt handle sheared off the bolt. I can’t find replacement bolt. Someone said it was “silver soldered” on. I don’t know enough about silver solder or brazing.
    Is there anyone on here to verify if that’s how it was originally put together and can you fix it? I’ll post pics this evening. Thanks 🍻

    Find a local gunsmith, or competent welder to TIG it, maybe?

    Silver Soder is a common practice, or at least it used to be. It is a fairly low temperature way of attaching parts. Any decent gunsmith should be able to reattach it. But as it is not very common with today's guns, I'd try to find an old fart.

    I believe they're induction brazed on. I had a customer bring me one with the bolt handle broke off years ago. I tig welded back on. The store I was working at ordered I think 4 of them and 2 showed up with handles broke off in the box. The manager sent them all back to the distributor. I'm afraid this is a common problem for this model.

    a little extra info.

    Little fundraiser that happened this summer here on the Hide needed a gunsmith for a project on some donated flat top stocks.

    I hadnt even finished my question before Mr Dixon said “Sure”.

    This resonates with me and earns some extra chops beyond just being really good at what they do.

    @LongRifles Inc. - thanks 😁

    A huge shout out to Chad Dixon/ LRI, who graciously donated to our fundraiser. Any gunsmithing I need will be with them.

    The last time I got any welding rod, about 2003, I bought it from Lancaster Alloys in California. I was welding 70 sets of landing gear
    for our hang glider club and the local copper coated stuff just wasn't working. The MC rod I bought was just over $30.00 / pound but
    welded beautifully. The airfoil shaped 4130 had to be connected to round and it was on about a 45* angle. That meant I had a fair
    amount of mill time into each set. Virtually anyone else would have been happy with the local rod but I'm not that guy.
    I don't view it as being different than people wanting a Vudoo because the company has paid attention to virtually every detail.
