Okay, take it easy on me as I am just beginning to learn about reloading and I am sure this is a very dumb question. I have my Zero press set up and bought the Redding Competition shell holders. I have watched quite a few videos regarding sizing. I am a little confused on adjusting the sizing die (full length) to adjust headspace vs. using the shell holders. Am I crazy or are both methods an option?

My sizing die doesn't have the micrometer adjustable head so is that where the shell holders are easier to use and to make small adjustments vs. adjusting the depth of the die?

Yes, in this example you will watch the shoulder datum as you begin searching for the best shell holder.

Remember, the datum length may increase before it actually sizes down, so don't panic if things look backward at first. When the shoulder actually makes that contact with the die, things will make sense and then you will only have a step or two down to land on your value.

Also, those micrometers on most sizing dies, only affect the neck bushing and not the shoulder. So, with most of them you still have to set the shoulder datum with body or shell plate adjustment.
