Looking to purchase one of these and am looking to get some feedback from those who own or have used them. Not a whole lot of information on these and before I spend $15K I would like to be a bit more informed. I know not many of these are out in the wild but I figured I would ask anyways. I plan on mostly using it as a clip-on but I could also see it replacing my Reap-IR as a dedicated weapon sight for hog hunting.

1. In clip-on mode what kind of magnification can you get up to with you day optic? 4X, 6X, more?
2. I am assuming ACOGs and Elcans are what it is more suited for but what about variable power scopes like a Nightforce NX8 1-8?
3. What kind of accuracy are you getting with the Wilcox Mount in either clip-on or dedicated weapon mode? I remember hearing about this mount producing poor results with the IR-Patrol when it was first released.
4. In clip-on mode is there a sighting in procedure? Or is it simply clip on and start shooting?

I am also considering a LWTS-LR but the versatility of the SkeetIR-X has me leaning more towards it.

It not a great clip-on, but @wigwamitus seems to have made it work with an Acog and TA51 mount at 4x.

Personally, I wouldn't even get it if the justification was "dual purpose." It shines as a head mounted spotter.

Keep the Trij or swap out for the LWTS-LR if you want. If you don't want to do this in tandem to the SkeetIRx, perhaps a SkeetIR-L is more in line with your budget, or that china skeet UNV is selling.

Cost is not an issue with this purchase. I do draw the line at the $15K price of the LWTS-LR and SkeetIR-X. I also do not plan on selling the REAP-IR, its just too good of a thermal to part with. My IR-Patrol or PVS24 may get sold just because they get used so sparingly.

I do not plan on ever mounting the skeet to my helmet.

The skeet shines as a helmet unit. It works ok as a clip-on but I'm only happy using it with a red dot 3x magnifier combo. As a stand alone the eye relief is extremely short so anything beyond a 556 recoil wise is really asking for it.

If you want a small cqb alternative that Is far more usable as a clip on and stand alone the L3 Cratos blows it away.....just no option to helmet mount. Hard to find them.....but I may just be selling one of my demo units soon. ;)

I did not notice that eye relief. That is an absolute no-go for me. I typically use 6.8 as my go to hog hunting round and the eye relief of a 4X ACOG has caused a couple scope bites. That Skeet is half the ACOG so yeah I am gonna look elsewhere. That Cratos tease has my attention...

Essentially what I am looking for is a versatile optic that can work from 5.56-308. Clip on capabilities are important. I would like to drop it on my 13.5 LMT MWS or my 11.3 Six8 with NF 1-8. I already got CQB type set ups. Looking for better range and higher recoil ratings. My PVS 24 (not the LR) can only do 5.56 so it doesn't get used much.
