Sling Question - Parade Sling driving me nuts

Finally got back into practicing my shooting positions quite a bit and have been using the sling as well. As a good refresher I picked up Jim Owens' book on this; my problem is that while the instructions are good for the most parts the pictures are horrible and I either seem to be doing something wrong every time, or I'm over-thinking it.

My problem is the parade sling. I've set up the sling/gotten it on the rifle from sheer memory and verified my technique with the book. The problem that is driving me absolutely crazy is where you are to tighten the sling into the 'true' parade sling for offhand - I have tried absolutely EVERYTHING. Disassembled, reassembled, pulled here, pulled there, etc. All I get is a sling that gets bunched up or moves around - no tightening and its to the point that I am thinking either what I have already is the parade sling and it doesn't get any tighter, my sling is too long (Turner Saddlery) or I am missing something.

Here is a pic of where I am and how the sling is situated. Is this as good/tight as it gets, or what should I be doing at this point? Feel free to point ANYTHING out.
