I think (I hope) I am starting to figure this 22 rimfire group shooting out.
Recently, many times I have shot five shot groups at 50 yards and had one to several shots hit way off of where I expected them to go. I also noticed during this time that my CZ 452 Military Trainer seemed to "jump" occasionally and unpredictably when the shot went off. I never tied the two together until the other day.
Someone at the range suggested that I try a group or two with his Sinclair F class bi-pod rather than my Harris bi-pod. Wow! My next group was the 2nd smallest I have fired at 50 yards. (0.286" center to center). The second group was 0.336" center to center. This rifle with this ammo (Wolf Match Target) had been averaging 0.500" 5 shot groups up until now.
I noticed one other thing. I had removed the sling swivel attachments from the CZ, but left both studs in the stock. Of course, I needed the front one to attach the bi-pod, but the back one seemed to "dig into" the rear sand bag. My next time out, I am going to replace the Harris bi-pod with a Sinclair bi-pod and take the rear sling swivel stud off the rifle. Wish me luck! I will either discover that I am some what smart, or still a dumb $hit.
