I thought today I'd go blow some 22 LR downrange in the pistol bay - since a week ago I could tell the lack of shooting the past 4 months has crept up on me. Midway through my session (aka # rounds I'd planned to shoot) I had an honest to goodness kaboom or something. Felt like sand in gale-force winds hitting my hand. Cleared malfunction, then went to put another round in chamber and it misfed. A few attempts later I took the gun apart, reassembled after making sure all parts were still there. Same thing. Funny thing is the spent round that came out was not cracked or anything and the barrel clear.

Fast forward. I get home, repeat and then it dawns on me as I closely examine how the bullet is nosing into the chamber. So out comes the barrel. The bullet will no longer fit. The freaking barrel is OVAL at the feed ramp now. Aguila 40g Lead Solid points. So I guess I'll call Walther and order a new barrel; and possibly Aguila to complain. Kind of shocked a 22 LR would "ovoid" the barrel like that; but it did.

You think maybe there was a light load that just pushed the bullet into the barrel and left a blockage for the next round or something? Only thing I can think of to create enough pressure with a 22.

Was it a P22?
It was a PPQ 22, not a P22. Similar though. I supposed their could have been another round in the barrel, I didn't fully disassemble because I was in a bay with no table, just a water barrel. It's possible that there was a round in the chamber; but I cannot remember if another round fed or not after clearing that round. I think after that they all just misfed into the breech.

I will say the breach end of the barrel looks like the actual rifling part of the barrel is pressed in and not super thick like say a 9mm barrel or even something like a High Standard, Colt or Ruger 22LR.
