Sniper's Hide Dot Drill Targets
01/24/2015

Here are the old Sniper's Hide Dot Drill Targets and Group Shot Targets

Advanced Dot Drill Target

Competition Dot Drill Target

SH Group Shot Target

SH Dot Drill

Feel free to download these targets,

We are not benchRest Shooters, so shooting a string of 25 shots into groups is not an appropriate use of our training time. We want to focus on One Shot One Kill

We will be posting a new competition based on our targets shortly

Any chance of doing a dot challenge again? The current challenge is awesome. Having fun trying to get into the 3's...not there yet.

Resurrecting this thread.... would love to see this turn into some sort of a challenge.

How about something suited for training for both competition and real world shooting scenarios? Seems like once pressure is on all the fundamentals go out the window. Elevated heart rate and adrenaline make things 10 times harder. Maybe try these for a dot drill...

60 second time limit, shooting from prone/bipod/rear bag. Fire first shot, then stand fully upright between each shot. How many dots can you hit?

or maybe this?

2 minute time limit, prone/bipod/rear bag. First first shot then 10 yard sprint down/back after each shot. How many dots can you hit?

We do variations of what you're suggesting at our local monthly matches. One drill has you place 5 rounds on the ground or pack about 5 paces behind your rifle. Start is with your mag in, rifle on ground with flag out, you, holding one round in your hand. Target is 6 1" dots in two columns of 3, at 95 yds.. Time is 60 seconds. At "engage" command you run to your rifle, drop, load, get on target, throw bolt and fire. Eject round get up and run back to get one more round, repeat until time is up.

Another short course drill involves anywhere from 15-25 jumping jacks before the "engage" command. You might (or might not) be surprised at how much this messes up a lot of shooters.

I like the dot drills for practice and will often include one row of 5 as part of a series of targets at different ranges, in timed personal challenges between my shooting buddy and myself. I believe that you need to practice while under stress (once you have your fundamentals down) if you plan on ever shooting under stress.

I'm hoping this will help the newbies with the dot drill and what is expected when doing the drill.

Good shooting

Your dot drill target pdf is a blank sheet of paper

Not sure what's happening. I'm using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Try downloading dot drill target PDF here to see if it works. https://www.snipershide.com/shootin...ical-practice-avoiding-group-shots.304/page-9 Go to post 417.

If it wont download on the above link it could be you and I are using two different versions of Adobe.

Now if the above PDF works ( Post 417 ) then the problem might be with the PDF on this thread.

I'll see if I can get some feed back from other users to see if the PDF on this thread works for them.

The "Lot7 Dot Drill.pdf" links to a protected file. I dinked with it and got it to download but the permissions attached to it specifically precludes printing. The "Dot Drill Target.pdf" file downloaded and printed fine for me.

With the help from two of our new members on the Hide.

Please note I'm using Microsoft Windows 8

Lesson 7 Dot Drill PDF would not open up for some members.

I'm hoping this will work for some of you. When you click on the PDF it should download. Once it downloads you will see an icon ( ^ )

Click on it. You will have an option... open, Always open in Adobe Reader, Open with system viewer.

Click on the first option, open, this will open the PDF in Microsoft Word, you can view and print the Word doc

Now if you happen to save it on your computer, Adobe will convert the Microsoft word doc into a Adobe PDF file. If you open it again, you will lose the word doc option. I think this all come down to settings.

If you can view this in Adobe Acrobat Reader you can also print this lesson now and take it to the range.

Good shooting.
